hi, my son said he and a buddy have been invited to GA with a friend from goose creek for Thanksgiving, if they dont go to that he said a bunch were talking about renting a room or two at an extended stay hotel and cooking a meal & just hanging out.
when he plans to leave for Chrsitmas he's hoping to get a group to shar the taxi ride to the airport.
he went to the county fair this last weekend with a bunch, said it was good time.

Lori (OH)....is your son in class 0942? My son took his A School Comps today for MM. He did great and he is looking forward to graduation this Friday. Will you (or any other moms) be attending graduation? I can't make it and I am "hoping" that someone will be nice enough to get a pic of my son with some of the other sailors afterwards.

Welcome MySharonna! As I remember reading here last year the chaplain had something going on for our Sailors. Also there are some local moms who will invite Sailors to their homes. My Sailor PIR'd the day before Thanksgiving last year and was not a grad'n go so we were in GLs over Thanksgiving and this year we are just lucky that his brother lives in NC and will host us for Thanksgiving. Don't worry! The Navy Moms I have read about do their absolute best to include those with family far away as far as I can tell.

My son just got to nuke school the 4th, and will be starting classes the 16th. With regards to Thanksgiving....my son said he can't go more than 400 miles away, and unfortunately, we live 1,100 miles... Will there be other guys there to spend Thanksgiving with? Places to go eat dinner? Families that will adopt them? Just a worry-wart mom. My son just graduated H.S. in May, bootcamp Oct, and here he is by himself for the holiday. Any suggestions that I could pass on to him? Plus, comfort me!!! Thanks much.

Mary Beth, as to your question regarding the number of guests for the Power School Graduation, I do not believe so. My sons graduation was a year ago mid October and it was held outside. In January it may be another story. I don't remember there being any maximum guest limit. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember. The ceremony was wonderful. Mine graduated and then he hopped in his car for the drive to Ballston Spa. Not quite the same as PIR in Great Lakes, that was incredible.
