Can anyone tell me what to expect regarding graduation from Prototype at Ballston Spa? Appropriate dress? Indoors or out? Do we need an invite and what other identity verification?

To deliver to NNPTC there is an extra $10 charge, but it is worth it!

They aren't allowed to go onto the base, have to stop at the main guard shack so your sailor will need to be able to go pick up their delivery.

I had 2 doz minis delivered to my son for his birthday (12 salted caramel and 12 lemon) and he said they were "DEEEEEEEEELISHUS"

Also, it's amazing how you will recognize your sailor with all of the same haircuts and clothes.  At PIR in January, it was a blizzard so they were all wearing ear muffs and scarves over their faces.  Maybe I just have looked at those eyes so much that I knew but I recognized Sam's eye brows as he walked up the street towards the NEX when he was with a group of sailors.

We brought my younger son's carry on to carry Sam's stuff, thinking he would transfer it to his backpack.  He checked the backpack and took Ty's bag which was royal blue.  He didn't have any issues at all and even brought it back as a carry on when he came home for Mother's day after A School graduation.

Hi Everyone - A while back, someone posted a business in fruit/snacks that delivered for free to our Sailors.  I searched and searched, but couldn't find it.  Does anyone know what I am asking about?  Please and Thank you!!

Well, that's a nice little perk

Comment by blackie123 on September 19, 2012 at 10:27am

They are issued a black bag at boot camp now.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on September 19, 2012 at 9:37am

Hmmm this I do not remember.  I don't think my sailor had a black bag issued but we had to bring him one.  Does he have one of his own maybe?  Or maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe things have changed in the 2 yrs since PIR.  PIR has been my favorite ceremony with my sailor so far.

Comment by AngelW (Ship 07 Div 060) on September 19, 2012 at 9:31am

Sandra - you are bringing back such wonderful memories for me!!  At PIR, your Sailor will tell you what time he will fly out.  I left my hotel at 1:00AM and got to the airport before the buses did.  Once they drop them off, he will have his orders.  They yall will check his sea bag, you will get your pass and yall will have the hours until his flight to talk, eat, talk some more.  It is running on no sleep and pure joy of seeing your new Sailor.  Have a great trip!!
