Gift cards for Restaurants are great ways to provide for our Sailors. They recently put a Cane's Chicken Fingers near the mall, which is my son's favorite! The pizza can be ordered, but the delivery is ONLY to the Subway/store at the front gate. The pizza delivery guys are NOT allowed on base, same with the Taxi's.

Took my sailor four weeks to get Comcast out to get online... his first roommate took his with him to his married housing. He didn't know that it would be an extra expense either! So glad he has his own money to pay for all his "new tech"... I don't miss the mess of all that stuff here at home! Toted (driven his car) majority of it to him back in June!

hello all!!  happy friday!!!

navynrocks--are you traveling to GC for thanksgiving?  we are hoping to.  if you are, maybe we will se you there.

Hey J's mom. Well after being in BC longer and getting to GC he sure has liked the

more "freedom" allowed while in the indoc period. Of course he knows that party is almost over since he begins class.

Right now he has been trying to set up his on line banking and accts and get his room "Tech" savy, TV,Internet,XBox ect ,Has been a bit hard since apparently you need a laptop to get the tv programed on line or something to that ?   So im sure hes heading to Best Buy by this weekend for more goodies, lol

As far as the running goes he is doing ok but has still much to improve ,he does like it that they run outside.

Funny though i sent him his "Skinny Jeans" monday & he said there to small now,ha  So just sent the more roomy ones.  Actually im glad he finally gained some weight cuz he was way to skinny for his height.

So were just counting the weeks till Thanksgiving as thats when i get to see him again hopefully. It sure cant come soon enough for me.

This is probably a dumb question, But when does there weeks begin? My son arrived in GC on 9-21 & is in the briefing stage till he begins his class on Tuesday

Is he considered Phase 1 now or does it officially start on the Class up day?

That's odd, William - they would have rigging gear at the Prototype a few miles down the road. Sounds like leadership/management failure to me. I wish I could say I was surprised...

I have not been posting of late because son has been on T-track this whole time and there has been  nothing much to discuss.  He starts Nuclear Power School next Thursday, class 1107 I believe.   I called him yesterday and it happened to be  on his day off, everything is fine and is in good spirits.  The only eventful thing was a couple weeks ago when we spoke he  had strained a groin muscle while moving a bunch of 540 pound safes and was on LLD for several days but is fit for duty now.   The doctor checked it out, ultrasound etc.  but no hernia or torn muscle or anything like that, just an ice pack and some Advil.   You would think that  a nuclear power school has high tech equipment on hand such as  "a hoist" or "a dolly" to move 540 pound safes but no, they have student nukes schlepping massive gear around like pack mules LOL.

smcfar 92,  If you end up having a pizza delivered, would you please let us know how it worked out?  I love that idea.  I'd like to do the same.

J's mom - I think this is another one of those 'it depends' situations.  My son graduated A School on Feb 4 2010.  He took his 10 day leave over Christmas, and then didn't get another leave after graduation.  He is now graduating from Power School today and is entitled to a 10 day leave, but is waiting to use it until Christmas.

William, so glad to hear from you again. I don't think I have read anything from you since your son's A school graduation. I hope all is well and you were just too busy, in a good way, to be chatting with us. Welcome back!

Congratulations Emily and Aaron! How exciting! My son will just be graduating A school on Nov. 18th and Passing Boards seems so far away. I hope this next part of his Navy adventure is a positive experience for the both of you. Looking forward to many future updates.

Thanks so much everyone! :) I'm passing on all the congratulations!

And quiltblue- Don't worry, I won't be leaving you all. You don't get rid of me that easily. ;)

Debbie- I promise you, the time will FLY by! You'll be at Power School graduation before you know it. And then you'll be in my spot looking back wondering where boot camp went! Craziness. Aaron will hit his two year mark in January!!

And smcfar92- Aaron said Dominos and Papa Johns are both good options. Not sure what the local places are. haha. But you'd have to have it delivered to the Subway/ATM there in the parking lot. If you told them it was going to the Nuke school, I'm sure they'd know where to go just like the taxi guys. :)
