Marybeth,  Beautiful tat...did it hurt?  And, happy birthday, too!

My son said he will be a WY resident forever; no state income tax :)  That, and eventually he will have enought points to get a moose license.  He and his younger sister have some crazy idea about a moose head on the wall.  Not your normal sibling rivalry.

I think my son went and had them do it for free.  But I don't know if he went to H&R Block, he went to the place that was mentioned awhile ago that does their taxes for free (I can't remember what it was called right now -- having a senior moment).

Pamela, I went online and done my sons last year for $10.  H & R wanted $120.  If its not complicated, I would suggest doing State & Federal online.

Has anyones Sailor used H&R Block that's there at school to get their taxes done?  If so, was it costly for just very basic W-2?  Thanks for any info.

Oh, and I'm saying 15-20 minutes to be on the safe side. My guess is it'd probably take all of 5 or 10. :)

NidDAlouette- Is your husband an officer? (Just a guess since he's going straight into Power School). If the officer housing is what I think it is (this super colorful housing division), then you should be in for some very nice base housing. The base is set up really weird... The base housing, Nex, Mini-nex, Subway, McDonalds, Chapel, Movie Theater, etc. isn't protected by the gates like almost every other Navy base. But all that stuff is relatively close together. Your hubby's classes will be on the "other" side of base where civilians aren't allowed unless they are there for graduation of some sort. That's where the barracks are located also. I would say from base housing it would take your husband a maximum of 15 or 20 minutes to get to the Rickover (the school building).

Nid- It is actually on base, but the base is HUGE so if you were looking to walk everywhere, think again. I'm not sure how far the houses are away from stuff like the Nex though.

Dana - thanks for the info. about the drive.  Sounds like we'll be just fine going that route.  I'm really looking forward to the mother/daughter bonding time too.  My daughter just got her license last week so she for sure will be driving a lot of it.  Of course I can't sleep while she is driving, but it will give me a little break.

Connie - you cracked me up.  Thanks for the laugh about living on the cat food.  I totally agree.

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on March 9, 2011 at 12:17am

Diana, we're in north Phoenix, near the 101 and Cave Creek Rd.  Not that terribly far from your daughter, probably 40 minutes with traffic.  i'd love to get together if we are in town.  Just let me know.  We'll be gone March 23 thru April 3.  Can't wait.

My son enjoyed a very lazy day today, laid in bed most of the day watching movies and eating (yes, eating in bed).  His dad finally drug him out to the MVD at about 4:00 to get the title to his truck signed over to him.  Now it's Playstation 3 with his best friend.  Still adjusting to the windows rattling because of the volume of it.  But I know I'll miss it when he's gone again.

Hang in the Miggiesmom!  LOL  Just remember, we can actually contact our sailors now.  The stress of BC and rarely talking was excruciating!  Now to just worry about them surviving the hard work of studying!!  hohum... we will never stop worrying about them... even if they were living at home and going to school!
