That is correct. However, with t-track between A school and power school and with hold between power school and prototype, it could be more than 24 months before he goes to fleet.

A school is 3 months for MM and 6 months for EM and ET.  So it depends on which rate he gets how long it will be before Power School.  All 3 power schools are about 6 months, but there is usually a few months between A school and Power School.  My son graduated A school 10/22 and he starts Power school on 1/10.

All nuke A school and Power School classes are in GC, but prototype can be NY or GC.

Marybeth- can you tell me how long does it take to get through to the Power School. I haven't spoken to my son about this yet. He is still in BC and I want as much information I can get so I have a clue what he is telling me. LOL I do know he will be shipped out on 02/23 to A school in GC then he has options from there to stay in GC or possibly be shipped to NY. He would like to stay in GC. So would I since we have friends there. :)

PIR even though we wernt real close we were able to make out my son by his walk & the way he carried himself...a mom knows.  But it was funny to hear comments from others not recognizing their sailors because of weight loss, BC glasses, etc:)

Regarding help with studying - when my sailor was in GC he used to run study groups all the time for people, your sailor should ask around, also I'm sure they provide tutoring if needed.

Elizabeth77, temperatures in the plants reach up to 130 degrees, this is about the hottest it has ever been, they are several decks down on the ship so there is no air movement and if there is it is hot, don't know how they adjust to it, my son said you spend a lot of time down there you just know it is going to be hot and you just make do. He did say it depends if they are in port or out doing an underway, it may be cooler, but don't expect it. I don't know how they do it, the heat, the hours, no sleep, he continues to make me proud of him everyday, and in my first discussion, I said started Goosecreek in August and graduated following April, it was the next year after that, started August 2008, graduated April 2010, sorry for any confusion.

David's Mom, Weather here in Chicago, today 26 degrees and cloudy, Friday 21 degrees and snow showers. Great Lakes is right on Lake Michigan so that increases the chances of lake effect snow. Wishing you safe travel and a sweet reunion!

Michimom,

My son graduates at the end of this month also.  He called today and said he will be on T-track for 5 weeks.

Javajo and Nvmomma - I was lucky that Joe was a section leader at PIR.  He stood in the front.  When we caught his eye, he started to smile and quickly looked away.  He knew his brother would make him laugh!!

I remember my fiance was an honor grad at bc and I was so excited partly because then I knew I didn't have to search him out during the ceremony, he stood apart from his division nearly the entire time. But the first time I saw him I nearly cried because he looked so different yet so the same too :) And I'm glad I can say that oxymoronic statement here.
