Mama Nonie...our sons had PIR the same day! My son is also still at GL, waiting to start Pre-Buds. He'll be coming home on the 18th. He hasn't booked a flight yet.

We were at the opposite end and my son's division was the second to come in. When those doors opened and they started marching, I got goose bumps and my heart just swelled with pride. I knew my son was one of those young men. It stills gives me a warm feeling when I think of it. We only got to spend a few hours with him because he was grad and go and his flight left at 5pm. We had to leave him at GL at 11:30 and drive to the airport about 2;30, but they let us have a visitor pass and we were able to go on back with him and spend some time then but I had to share him with his brother, sister and another close friend that is like a brother to him. I recently drove to Pensacola Florida by myself but I didn't have to share him with anybody haha That's great that he gets to come home at Christmas. Mine can't ask for leave until he gets to his next base and that probably won't be until the middle of December. He graduates A school on Monday! Which means he gets to come home!

Kim, yes we went to his PIR. It was AWSOME! When they rolled up the doors and the first division was standing there I started crying. I couldn't wait to see my son. We spent the weekend with him, Gurnee Mall, Chicago, Gio's pizza (wonderful), riding the trian into Chicago. Saturday evening he came back to the hotel with us for a while. He took a shower by himself, that is what he had been looking forward to for 8 weeks. He is waiting for A-school to start Thursday. I can't wait to see him at Christmas when he comes home.

I trust everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I heard from my Sailor by way of Facebook! Ha! At least I heard from him. He was in Orlando with his wife's family and I was at my sisters and in-laws-----TWO turkey dinners in one day. :) May God bless, each and every one.

Hi Navy Mom's. I am from McAlester, my son just graduated from bc on 11/13/09. He will be attending A-school in GL for hospital corpsman/field medic. It is nice to know there are other moms from OK.
