OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left on the 13th, but got to BC on the 14th.....We got his box of personal belongings, and the letter with his ship, division and PIR date.....alll the same as yours! He did manage to write a short letter on the back of his paper, saying all was well, and they were held up in processing due to the holidays, my sister told me she read somewhere that they only had 2 minutes to write, that was on 12/20......we still have not received a regular lettter or call, but I think they may have had some time on Christmas to write......I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something next week!

Okay, that's great. I know that his mom got some kind of letter from him yesterday or the day before so that must have been the form letter that she got. I heard that they should have had some writing time on Christmas too. I know he said in his letter to his mom that it sucked a lot without letters and to please send some. I've sent his over ten letters so I hope he doesn't think no one has sent him anything. I would hate that. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that we both get something next week!

My son got to BC on the 14th too. Did yours fly out of Newark too? I got a 2 line blurb on the form letter & I got his box. Nothing more yet. So glad to have some mommies who have SRs in the same group!! I'm dying for some other form of contact. Nothing yet. Sent him 2 letters & pictures so far, so has his sister. We're trying to keep him flooded with letters or just anything. I look forward to meeting you in Great Lakes!! Keep in touch - did you join the PIR 2/17/2012 group yet?

Our son left & arrived on the 13th - by bus. Received the box 3 days later and then a form letter with a small note on the back from him a week later. No other news as of yet. I wish he would put some more info in their to what it's like there for him. I know there are videos and we have watched them all but were curious to know what he thinks of everything. Sounds like kids are from all over the Country in that group.

I live in Florida And my boyfriend flew out of Jacksonville. I can't wait to hear something too, I feel like it's been soo much longer than 12 days. I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't gotten anything else too, I was a little upset that his mom received something and I haven't but I'm pretty sure it was just the form letter. Are you guys planning to fly out to Great Lakes in February? I've never been on a plane before and I'm a little nervous about being in a big city like Chicago.

I hope there only 7 divisions on the graduating date of 2-17-12 because that means the smaller the division numbers the more seats available for extra guests! Yeh!! Grandparents get to see the biggest event in my son's life since his birth. I'm super excited!

My son is also in this group and our situation is the same as most of the posts below. I have sent out his address to many of his friends and of course our family and asked everyone to send cards. Even some of my high school friends are joining in the request to send mail. Being a Navy Wife myself (now retired) I know how good it feels to get that mail when you are away from those so dear to you. I too anxiously await the mail each day.

Just heard from my son this afternoon. He called and talked for about 15 min. He needed more info faxed there for his security clearance. I got to ask him a few questions in between the really important stuff. There are no females in his Div. only 96 males. Yes that's Ship 12 Div 074. Today was Week 1 Day 1 for those who are curious. No PT yet but they will begin tomorrow. They had lots of days in Processing because of the Holidays (as expected). He said everything is pretty easy right now as long as you follow directions. He has the bottom bunk though he had the top one during processing. He was only able to write 1 letter which was mailed 2 days ago (haven't received it yet - only the form letter). Everything is going smoothly so far.

I got a call from my son today!! It wasn't supposed to be a "Personal" call, it had to do with him needing addresses and names for security clearances (his MOS is Intelligence Specialist).....Anyway, I was at work and have a fairly new cell number, so he called my house and got to speak with his fiance for a little while, she gave him my # and he called me at work!! He sounded upbeat and positive. He said this was the first "Real Day of BC", up until today they were still in processing. He said they are still due to graduate 02/17, and that he hasn't received any letters yet. We assured him that many were sent, and he'd be receiving them soon. He also said he sent us one, which we have not received!! It was really good to hear his voice and know that all is well!! Hopefully we'll all get letters soon!! God Bless our Sailor recruits!

Oh wow, that kinda sucks that they were held up in processing for two whole weeks. But if they got to write at least one letter I'm happy!

I am envious of those who got phone calls. I understand them needing more info for their security clearances. My ret. Navy husband was in the Intelligence community for all of his 28 years and is still in that area as a DoD contractor. I too work for a DoD agency in that community. The SF 86 they are filling out is a monster form. My son knows what Dad & I go thru to keep our clearances which I believe is why he decided not to follow the same path.
Glad to know that we may be getting a letter soon.
