Hi my name is Judy I got my letter on Monday from my son Travis he is 22,I am excited to but it is all new to me.We are from wisconsin.

That's when I got my form letter.  I'm anxiously awaiting the first "real" letter to hear how things are.  Though I'm sure he's doing great, I'm pining for some contact, lol.  My husband is 26 and going Nuke, will be turning 27 while he's there : )  What is your son going for?

My son is ship 12 div 181 He left on April 16. I am like you irish waiting for a real letter to arrive. He is 23. This is new to me as well. We are from Philadelphia.  He will be going for Aviation Ordinance after BC.

On face book we have a page just for our guys type in ship12 div 182 trish B.started it div 182/181 train together so go there so we all know what is going on.

I do not know what the name is he is restoring the ships ???It will be a while before a letter I will send one out tomarrow but I know it will be a while,it is hard with him gone.

It is my understanding that they get to start writing the second Sunday they are there, but I am HOPING (ha ha) that maybe since they got into their division so quickly they might have gotten to write this Sunday.  Every RDC is different too.  Some will let their recruits write every night, some will only let them write on the days they have to let them write.  Some will let them earn extra writing and phone calls, and again, some will not.  And from some people I've talked to, some divisions are a bit unruly and therefore loose their priviledges like writing and phone calls.  So I hope all of the recruits with our guys are being well behaved!!!

Yes it is a team effortI am sending a letter out and we will see.I also heard tues and thurs they write. It is all different I guess. Are you going to the PIR??I have been looking at a room.We are driving down from Chippewa Falls Wi.on Thurs some time.Hope we get the call early.I have off weds thu sunday.

Irish we have a facebbok page for our guys type in ship 12 div 182.A mom trish B started it div 182/181 train together this way we all know what is going on.

Awesome!  I will check out the FB page definately!!  I am going to PIR, made flight/hotel/car resv. already.  Too good a deal to pass up!  We are staying at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield b/c we are flying into Midway.  Plus it has an indoor pool since we will be there on Thurs with nothing to do (and having already spent enough money on the trip we won't be site seeing, haha)  I have been writing him every day and get our son to draw pictures.  Helps keep us busy anyway!

I've created a Facebook Page for Ship/Div 182, but 181 and 182 train together.  Let me know you this group would be interested in joining, and i'll change the name and send a link so you can connect.  I've been connected to a group graduating this week and it's awesome how close they are!!
