Yes, my son also stayed on base, but he said the Thanksgiving food provided was wonderful. He was home sick though, we spoke for over an hour and he talked with the rest of the family. His girlfriend was home from school for Thanksgiving and she stopped by. It was wonderful to see her. Sub school is suppose to start tomorrow, I am grateful. Since he left on 11/14/09 he has been just hanging out and waiting for school to start. I think it makes it easier if they are busy. Well, happy belated Thanksgiving and Happy start of the Holidays!

Thanks for sharing your thanksgiving pictures and memories. So happy that several of you were able to have your Sailor's home... or be able to be with friends. My Sailor stayed on base and had a good meal (3 plates) and called us stuffed and heading off for a nap. hahaha. Super excited to see him for Christmas.

Carolina Mom....I'm glad you had time to spend with your son! We arrived aroudn 10:30 a.m. at the NEX but he decided to bring his laptop and his desktop back with him! A serious geek he would be :) I hope you missed all the traffic adventures going home. We are hoping he can come home for Christmas but we live over the 400 mile restriction and he has to request special permission and it be granted. I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

I was able to pick my son up for Thanksgiving, which was wonderful, but he had to return this morning. I am already missing him and can't wait until Christmas.

Lisa, This is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Our son called last minute that he received special permission to come home if we would come get him. We enjoyed having him home and figure this will be one of the last for awhile. So, we just dropped him off in Goose Creek. Another one of those bittersweet moments. Now we have 11 1/2 hours home today and the traffic is crazy! Two wrecks in 8 miles on I-26. Hey, we at least got him back to base on time :)

Here is my Sailor who went to friends for her Thanksgiving. These amazing friends drove 90 miles each way to pick her up and return her so she could have a family Thanksgiving. What a loving gift to me and to my Sailor

Thanks Dawni! I've found out I can't do this alone :) Even if you have a spouse or family...they still are not the Mom. I appreciate you and others being open to share and the opportunity to be part of this group.

Hello Everyone, I'm a little late joining in but I'm another proud Mom of a Friday the 13th grad! We were able to have him home for Thanksgiving after an 11 1/2 hour drive one way to pick him up but it has been worth every minute. Wishing everyone and their Sailor's the best!

My son is still at Great Lakes awaiting A-School. He was adopted by a family yesterday for Thanksgiving. He had a great time spending the day with a family and they sent him back with a plate for later. We missed him, but happy he had a great day. Happy Holidays everyone!
