Rob is at Lemoore, still trying to get qualified. He is a computer electronic tech, dont recall the exact title. He seems to like his job, but would rather be on the ocean than the desert. He has yet to be deployed. Younger son is having some sort of vision problem so now we are waiting on a specialist to say whats going on so he may not be able to stay with the same job. I guess when we have kids in the Navy we get to play alot of waiting games. My Rob was talking for a while about wanting to volunteer for duty in Afghanistan, if I understood right he was told no due to his training so far..a relief for me!

congrats ladies...a yr has passed and all is well. Sorry to hear this serena. It makes me sad to hear one of our Sailors is not happy. The eve at Flanagans seems so far away now but i remember my friends well. Prayers to you and yours as we enter the holiday season.

Deb - what base is Rob stationed at? My Robert is stationed at Lemoore, CA, but was deployed in Aug. He is a mechanic on the f-18's, but really wants to switch to culinary specialist. I don't think he can switch for another year though. I'm glad for you that your sons will both be home for Christmas. Enjoy them!!! Robert wanted to see the world too, until he fell in love. Now he just wants to be back in Florida with his girlfriend, family and friends.

Sorry to hear that Serena, Rob is down in California. He is a bit down because he never gets to see the ocean, he is in the desert. He is working towards working on f-18's but I think he really wants to see the world and be on the ocean.

I am lucky though, If all goes well both my sailors will be home this christmas. My youngest is in groton going to Sub school to be a fire tech. I really thought last year would be the last time they were both home for christmas for a long time, but looks like it will be this year.

I so much wish it was a year ago! My son's in the middle of the Gulf, sad & a little depressed that he won't be home for Christmas, and so tired of seeing just water and jets. Last year this time I never thought about where he'd be this year during the holidays!

my Sailor is home now..........he is home for 9 days and I am beside myself... Will be in Pensacola for A school, is very upbeat and proud! Can't believe he is here.haven't seen him since Feb in Chicago and hasn't been home since feb. Prayers to all of yours and hope you can draw some comfort from my joy!!!
