Maggie (Jesse's Mom) Comment by Maggie (Jesse's Mom) on March 24, 2009 at 12:33am
Well, Jesse finished A school in record time... about 4 weeks, instead of 9. Anyway, he is in holding now in Pensacola and has been for about a week. I feel really bad for him because, last Friday (his 18th birthday) he was supposed to graduate and he had a minor glitch in his uniform (slight fray on one pant leg) and so will not receive the promotion that he was looking forward to as a result of that. He would have been promoted to petty officer 3rd class, but now he will graduate with honors but no title/reward to go with it. The military is indeed tough, and as a mom, it hurts my heart to see my son try so very hard and yet to be disappointed by things like this happening. He is such a good kid and so smart. I didn't know what else to tell him except that we are proud of him, no matter what he does! I am continually amazed that someone so young could be so mature and motivated. I only pray that he will somehow be able to advance quickly once he gets stationed. For now, as I said, he is on hold.

Doesn't it seem like ages since PIR? I have missed talking to you ladies... Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers today, you and your wonderful sailors!

has been a while since i have been here = i am so glad that alot of our saliors have been able to get on to a school and such. jason is still hanging out in the gl- and hating it.(at times). seems to be such a huge back up with the system and he is still there but atleast taking some of the basic classes he needs and then we are hoping he will finally get to go to a school in florida. such a long process it seems = he also thinks that once he gets to florida he will still be on hold for a while due to the back up at the schools there.

Maryellen, so sorry to hear about your daughter, but like Louise and Jody said this is our government at their best. I have been going through the same thing with Michael and he just got his orders with cost me to have to pay out a lot more money on a plane ticket. Louise I know exactly what you are going through, you to Jody. It gets really flustrating, but when we do finally get to see them we forget all of that flustration don't we.

Maryellen, so sorry that your daughter is on hold with her circumstances. I heard from other military families that it's always hurry up and wait. Now I know that to be true. We have no military background so it's all new to us. Justin, 2 weekends in a row, has been told that he could drive home for the weekend from PNS then they tell him at the last minute that he can't. This weekend especially hit us all hard because it's his bday tomorrow. I just figured with the govt they'd be more organized but I've found that they say one thing one minute then another thing another minute, what's good for one is different for another and they're (military) never on time. Perhaps we all need to start yoga thanks to the military to get thru our frustrations-ha.

Maryellen, I know it is a a pain trying to plan anything. Finally I know that Josie will be able to leave on Sat. after graduation. First it was going to be right after the ceremony, then it was no, she had to wait a day, then it was well she might be there another week!! I'm glad I booked for two nights at the motel as now she is pretty sure she will get to come home with us and start her 2 weeks leave.
I am sorry for your daughter, this was going to be her special day, but look at the bright side-- more time to make her day that more SPECIAL!. Hugs to the both of you.

Well ladies here's an updated, I spoke to Danielle to day and she found out that she can not leave Pensacola till somewhere between the 9th and 15th of April. They got a new detailer ( the person that processes them) and they have to train them as they are doing the orders to ship out our Sailors. She is upset because her and her boyfriend were planning to get married while she is on leave and now its on hold. She also found out she is on medical hold, they redid her pap smear on the 4th of March and Still don't have the results so hopefully she will have them soon. We are finding out that it is a waiting game in Pensacola her roomate was to leave today and found out she will be there till April 2 or 3rd.

My husband and I are going up next week end to see her, her dad has not seen her since she left on Dec 1st and they both want to see each other.
Well Thats all for now I will keep you all posted and when I get back I will post new pictures.

Here's the update on Sarah. She just started A school for HM at GL last week. They had their first test last Thursday and much to everyone's surprise (including her) she got the top score in her class. She is scheduled to graduate June 5th, so it will still be some time before she gets to come home for a visit.
Not sure where she goes from here, yet. We still haven't received the dvd, so I called today and they promised they would get it out right away. We got The Keel, which was really nice. Best of luck to your sailors and it will be interesting to see what they are doing now.
