Hey everyone! I heard from Eric today - he passed his comps and is now a Petty Officer 3rd Class! I am so proud and happy for him. Nuke School is hard and now he is one third of the way through. He finished 2nd in his class - almost made top. He doesn't get to come home for his leave until Labor Day - but it will be good to have him then!

Hope everyone and their sailors are doing well......!

Maggie, that is fantastic. I know you're proud. We hear from Justin only about once per week. He's loving his IT duties in WA. He works M-F 9am-4pm (but his relief comes every day at 3pm and tells him he can go) and he gets a 2 hr. lunch. I told him, boy oh boy is that kind of schedule not the real world at all. He's waiting for someone new to get assigned there so that he can make some friends. They have this crazy rule that they can't socialize with anyone at a higher rank than he is-so he has absolutely no social life because he's the only one there at his rank. He says that they don't often get new people there that he was lucky because somebody retired and he took their position. Don't know if that's good or bad. He was going to come home next month, his commander encouraged him to do so as most take time off often, but he doesn't want to come home for only 5 days so he's saving up for Christmas. Gosh, don't know about you ladies, but I just feel so very lost without him here. I know it's good for him and the country but the selfish mommy side of me wants my kids nearby. I think it's effecting our 13 yr old daughter. She's been a bit hard to get along with and we think it's because she misses her brother so much but she says no (of course). Well I'm off soon to our Navy 4 moms luncheon. There'll be about 15-20 of us and we pack many boxes to ship for the adopt a sailor program. Great group of women I've met from our Central Fla get togethers.

Ok, I just have to share this one with you ladies... We got a nice note in the mail from Jesse's captain, saying that he was picked "Avenger of the Week" onboard the USS George HW Bush a couple of weeks ago. As I understand it, it's kinda like being chosen "employee of the week" -- and this among 950 junior sailors! He is an IT there, so he developed a help desk website for the ship. We talked to him, and he told us about how cool it was to go and hang out with the captain in his quarters, get his picture taken for the ship's newsletter, and have a free day of liberty!

Hey Marianne! I bet you and Liz both are relieved that she finally started A School! Now things will really take off. She will be in my prayers, as will your whole family. I am sure that she will do great!

MaryEllen, I am so happy for Dani! What a wonderful time to get married... September in Virginia should be lovely. My husband and I will be going out to visit Jesse there in September, after Labor Day. It might just be that we will be there when she gets married! Hehe... want me to sneak in to the ceremony and get some pics? :)
