OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

I have a question about the parking pass for graduation day.  We have tried to print one out and use the password that our son made, however the password goes through but there isn't anything showing parking pass.  Can anyone give me advice? getting close to needing it.  Thanks!

Carlsbbad92009, Our daughter in 195 did pass and called me on Friday, but said the tests were scheduled differently for different people.  For instance, the day for the regular running test (her biggest fear), it was too muddy, and so she had to take it at a later time. Signs look hopeful for your daughter because you haven't ad that call, best of luck!

Has anyone heard from anyone in 197??
Comment by ellen0502 on June 19, 2017 at 4:50pm

If your recruit has not passed the PFA you would have heard from them by now. They would have called and told you not to come to graduation because they have not passed their final test before Battle Stations.

If you do not hear from you recruits by Wed please let me know. There is a way to find out if they are still on track to graduate on Friday.

Right now more than ever during BC, "No news is good news!"
