OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

I must say that I am appalled at the rental car prices in Chicago...Like Seriously? Ugh...definitely going to have to get a cheaper hotel luckily I will only need it for one day.

Does anyone have someone going to A school at Great Lakes?  I know they have to check in first and then get liberty but was wondering how much do they get?

My son's box finally arrived - we were thinking that it was lost! It sounded like everyone else had already received theirs. Now if I can just get a call, all will be right in my world. LOL

Good Morning All

Chronicles, It would make sense that 195/196 are integrated since it seems to have taken a while to get through p days. P hold is never fun, they arrive are pushed through processing, and the wait begins. :) Come on ladies get in here so we can get this BC thing started.

My son was in processing and on p hold for 19 calendar days in 2012, while waiting on the females to arrive. This time in processing made the two brother divisions PUSH.

SDmamabear-  P-days for DIV196 were not over until 5/8 so I believe it may be integrated. lemonelephant sent me a breakdown of how P-days worked for the division based on info in my son's letter, if you are interested send me a friend request and I can msg it to you. I am praying you will hear from your SR tomorrow.  I am sure you will find out the address soon ;)
