LMC... do the sailors create their own flags that go on the division shirts? I would love to order a division shirt when the time comes and wear it to the PIR. I don't think I would need to order for my daughter. I believe the sailors order their own, correct?

Any Blue Candle. Go under event and you will see about Blue Candles. :D

And you're welcome. Oh and the Division Shirts make sure you ahve extra $$ on you for those. Sadly the Division my son was in they didn't have extras there that day so I still have to order those.

LMC-Thanks for responding. I'm sorry is the video on vhs or dvd? Yeah, I wasn't sure of all the ins and outs of the drill team. I heard about the band. My daughter used to play the piccolo and the flute in high school. Thanks for the info about the 900 division.

LMC - I may change my hotel plans.  I guess I better get on it to make any changes now.  Thanks for the help.  Blue Candle?  What's that all about and where do you buy them?

Wanda- Lots say yes to teh video. My Sailor did not. He felt that the dvd wouldn't be good when his kids would go to try and watch it. Since VHS is gone and DVD is now going Blue ray LOL. It's not really Drill team it's a 900 division. They pick you if you have the skills. My son was in a 900 and played Tuba for 7 years before going to boot camp. Which BTW he loved the 900 division.

Mama C- We stayed at Navy lodge and only went over to the M&G Thursday night. One of teh other moms in our div stayed at that hotel adn had 2 rooms. She said she will never stay there if she has to be in Great Lakes. Just make sure you leave whatever hotel by 6-15 to get to base for PIR. We asked the local NEX what time they recommend and they told us that.

CONGRATS! and now go buy your Blue Candle adn keep it burning for Battle Stations. :D

Hope I helped both of you with my answers.

Ok,  I'm beginning to question my decision on staying at the Ramada for PIR 5/13.  I keep seeing posts and comments about how the hotel smelled and had "that musty, smokey smell".  Not sure what to do.  I wanted to stay there because of the meet and greet, but if it is really that bad of a problem, I don't want to stay there.  Any ideas?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this group. I tried asking this question in two other groups but no one is responding so I thought I'd try this group.
Does anyone recommend purchasing the PIR graduation video? Is it worth purchasing? It would be nice if we could see our sailor in the video. My daughter is considering joining the drill team in bootcamp. Thanks in advance.

What is a sailor's homeport? Is this like where they are stationed? My SR graduates boot camp in 6 days. (!!!!) And some people on his PIR groups page were talking about their homeport. If someone knows anything about this, please explain. I'm a little confused. Thanks!

Call the Navy Lodge and ask them. If you ahve your car with you you are not far from two malls. Also bring a sweater for her for PIR It's indoor and they kept it cool for our June PIR. You might want to sit on teh sweater 'cause it metal blecher seating. Just a thought.

I think this is the site for the mall www.gurneemills.com
