Little White Lie

Some days are worse than others
This one has been very long
I’m really missing my sailor
People keep asking what is wrong

I’ve learned to say “allergies”
Because that they understand
It also explains the weepy eyes
And the tissue in my hand

But I’ve found a place where I can go
And let my tears flow free
Where I can find day or night
A thousand moms like me

So I lie when people ask because
When my day of work is done
I know I can share my feelings with
My wonderful Navy Moms

A Mother’s Tears
Lisa in Michigan N4Ms

The day that you were born
How was I to know
That life was just a series
Of tears and letting go

Your first day of school
I brushed the hair from your eyes
Then turned and left the room
So you wouldn’t see me cry

All too soon you took my keys
For your first solo drive
I waved goodbye then turned around
To wipe a tear from my eye

My tears were born of sadness
You were growing up so fast
I tried to keep you close
And I knew it wouldn’t last

And then the day came
The one every mother fears
You were leaving home for good
I cried a million tears

You weren’t just moving out
You were dedicating your life
To the Navy and your country
It struck me like a knife

I spent the next eight weeks crying
I was missing you every day
Why did you have to break my heart
Why did you go away

And before I knew the day arrived
Everything would be okay
As soon as I saw your face again
It was your graduation day

I would finally get to dry my eyes
But how was I to know
The pride I felt would break the dam
And a river of tears would flow

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad,
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue,
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that have passed away,
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

The poem on the main page does not show up entirely so here it is.
I will cry without shedding tears
Cringe without showing my fears
Pray without moving my lips
Dream always of incoming ships
For I am the mother of a U.S. Sailor

OK, I havn't really written but one sailor poem, but I found my creative writing club poems, so they are written as a 16 yr old girl. So, keep that in mind, LOL.

Waves

Crashing into the shore,
breaking into nothingness.
Glistening where the yellow sun shines its light
onto the images seared into my mind.

Foamy surf, gliding - falling back,
bringing, leaving, giving, receiving.
Silver reflections shining and then blurring,
into the bottom of my memories.
