How long is A school?

i know that it depends on your job and i am not sure what they are giving him yet but maybe someone could give me a estimate? (shortes a school time to longest?) please

My son will be going for Sub Electronics/Computers Field (SECF)... it's approximately 8 months, i believe. I believe it's one of the longer fields. If that helps.

Hi Erin, wow that's a question with a wide variety of answers! Ruth Ann is talking months, my son had 14 very intense weeks of study to become a Corpsman. Before their first Leave, Duty Station or Deployment orders, some Sailors have just A school, but some have C (specialty) schools after. Some have one or more training strands before they even start "A" school. Oh, and then there's the 1-2 weeks of Navy INDOC before they can even class up to start A school. Plus, depending on the Rating, school, # of instructors available and where you are in the fiscal year, there may be times of being on hold and waiting even longer to start your training! No crystal balls here sweetie, sorry. Best to first find out what job he qualifies for and gets. Then you can go find the Group on N4M for that Rating and ask the loved ones there what their specific experiences have been. :-) Hope that helps a little at least. Thanks for saying please. LOL =)
