Buenas noches mother always. Sorry to take so long to reply! Yes, you absolutely can post your son's Ship and Div #s onsite. That is how you will find others who have Recruits in the same Division and with the same PIR date and can then join those Groups. Just don't post his whole address or last name (make friend requests and use your PM option to share that. The Recruits only know each other by last names. (not sure what nov BT refers to? Is that a Group for Recruits who left in Nov, perhaps one of the DEPPER Group ones?) hope that helps!

God Bless you all this Thanksgiving! Especially thankfully for our Recruiters who help answer the tough questions and keep us all up to date on the ever changing Recruiting landscape and Navy news. =)

motheralways-did you mean your son is in BC (Boot Camp) since the 17th? Recruits have very little down or free time. My son said he averaged 5 hours of sleep a night. Weekends are busy times of studying, doing laundry, ironing uniforms, having watch or duty, and catching up on sleep. Some divisions have extra PT or skills they need to learn and use the weekends for workout or practice time. They have time to write letters and attend church (in their preferred denomination) on Sundays, some chose extra sleep and study time instead! :)

They live for mail call so now that you have his address, write, write write, every day if you can. Just don't send anything but standard, plain white envelopes or regular cards, NOT musical cards. Be sure to join the Groups for his Division and PIR date of 1/15, those are usually formed on the Boot Camp Moms Group. You will need the support and enjoy the camaraderie. :) The first three weeks are hard and slow, but then it starts to pick up speed as the excitement builds and as they start to work together as a Div team towards the goal of graduation. Best wishes to him and God Bless you as you observe and deal with the first holiday (of many) without your son. Hope he can send a letter home soon. :-)

KylesproudMom, the answer to your question is yes and no. It's been confirmed that RDCs have come onsite and read some members profiles looking for insights to help motivate their BC Recruits and know something more about them. That's why we urge you not to post potentially embarrassing comments, endearing nicknames (don't even refer to him as "your baby") or stories you wouldn't want his new Divmates to hear. Also ALWAYS practice OPSEC at all times for the protection of your Recruit/Sailor (and you!), now is the time to become familiar with it.

Otherwise it's really no big deal and Moms have actually had RDCs come up to them at PIR (Graduation-they already knew their names and faces from the site!) and thank them for raising such a fine young man or woman. :) However, it's doubtful that your Recruiter was discharged due to something you wrote. I'm sure if you were having problems, others were too. He was probably reported to the RINC and was already under some scrutiny, which probably then led to disciplinary action and discharge. We have some Recruiters as members, but most are too busy (as are most RDCs) to spend much time looking for specific discussions and information. I'm just thankful they are willing to take the time to answer our many questions! I'm thrilled to hear that your son is able to get off to a good start on his journey now with the proper standards and info he needs (and good leadership) to succeed! :-)

Do the comments we write on these groups get read by the recruiters and their chiefs? Just curious because after writing on here about the problems we were having with the recruiter, soon after he was discharged from the Navy. My son was called into the office with the chief and the new recruiter (whom by the way, we like a lot) and it was very tense because you could tell the old recruiter was in alot of trouble. I am sure there had to be numerous reason that he was being discharged. One being not holding up to the military standards.
At least my son and other sons here on going to be on the right track now and held accountable to the military standards and the DEP program. I am very happy about that! :) Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

My son graduated 9/18/09 and we also stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn at Waukegan (it was everything we thought and more) and we also used the shuttle service. As long as your name is on the list that is really all you need. We did have ID. The schuttle is the way to go. No waiting in lines, no random searches, no gate passes, etc. and they have pick up times after the ceremony that varies so you want have to be in such a rush to leave. I would suggest you all go in together and his wife should have all that is needed. They only allow 4 in per pass and those names have to be on the list that he provided. If there are more than 4 people in your group some may have to wait so to see if seating is available after all the others on the list has been seated. You will certainly enjoy it and most of all you will get to see your sailor. Good Luck!
