What is that phrase...Quartermasters lead the Navy!! I think that was it. tehehe...just a bit of bragging there. Seriously, when it comes right down to it...they absolutely lead the Navy!! Cause, without them, who would read all the charts, and stars and landpoints?

cool alice, glad there are more of us. as we "grow up" a little with our sailors, i'm sure Dana and myself will be able to have more to say in here. in the meantime, hope you dont mind being the "experts" with us being the learners of whats to come for our sailor. i know we need to be very careful on topics of conversation in here.

WOW,3 more , this is great. My son is in Norfolk on the USS Nassau. He really like being a QM.The only thing is he only gets to do his job when they are out to sea.He will get lots of that am sure.lol.They are in port right now, will be going out again after the first of the year.

Hi all. I just deleted two of my posts after reading the forum "Learning OPSEC" because they may have contained information too specific. I'll just say that I hope to see my son soon when we join their ship for the Tiger Cruise back into their home port. Quartermasters are a part of the Navigation division and although some of their work is now computerized, they still work with ship charts as sailors have done for hundreds of years. Their skills are required round the clock. Thanks to quartermasters the ships don't run aground.

Hey all, hello! My daughter is stationed aboard the USS KIDD and is a quartermaster!! I am so proud of her!! To Alisman, yes, he will be at sea a little more, that is the only way they can actually do their job. My daughter is looking at a seven month deployment next year, jan through july.
