Had too much fun with my sailor home. Not enough time in the day to see everyone. I drove him over to Bremerton...it is beautiful there! We were both impressed to see Aircraft Carriers from a distance....WOW! I hope we get a chance to tour one. We were both excited! A very nice Sailor came to pick my son up, I waited outside along the clock tower area. A very nice Sailor picked my son up as we waited by the clock tower. What a sweet person. What a wonderful way to be greeted to a new base. I think he will be on a barge for a while? Does anyone know about living on barges? Sounds fun to me. I and my son have always loved water. The Carriers are awesome! I wish I could join the
Navy! Everyone is sure nice.
I just read this joke in the Readers Digest:
FEw people outside the military know what a quarter-master does. So during my aircraft carrier's Family Day, I demonstrated a procedure called semaphore - I grabbed my flags and signaled an imaginary boat.
When finished, I pointed to a little girl in front and asked, "Now do you know what I do?"
"Yes," she answered. "You're a cheerleader."

Tim finished A school as a "distinguished" grad. I am so proud. He is waiting orders. We hope that he will be home for a few days very soon. His daughter celebrated her dad's grad by popping out her first two teeth on the same day!

Hi Carla. Yes, I was soo sad to see her leave. They only gave her 15 days of leave and others got 30+ but oh well sometimes you gotta be happy with what you get. She finally got there on Friday with no luggage and no guidance because it was the weekend and called me in a tizzy. So I worried myself to death waiting to hear from her all weekend. I just got off the phone with her and she seems much happier today. You know its tough when you take care of their every wimper for 21 years and then find yourself on the other side of the world and unable to do a thing for them. Thanks for thinking of me. It makes things a whole lot easier to have someone care.

Hi Dana. I hope your good-byes weren't too difficult and that Ashley had a good visit at home before her new adventures. My son was here for two weeks in May and just left for his deployment last week. It was so special to be able to have him with us.

Hi Carla...I am better than ok at the moment. Ashley came in on Tuesday and will be here until the 29th. Her ship is out on deployment so she will have to meet up with them sometime in Singapore. She is very excited to get to jump right in!! Me....Im sooo dreading good-bye. Thanks so much for your well wishes.

Hello all.............my son has a PIR date of may 8th. Only 8 more days to go until we see him. I can't wait. I am always wondering what is next on the agenda for him. I guess A school in the GL will be next. Anyone else have someone with the same PIR date?
Carla V. Comment by Carla V. on April 29, 2009 at 12:54am
Andrea, that is great news! It only takes about 8 hours to drive to Norfolk from Wappingers Falls. Florida would have been a two day drive. I hope you get to be with your husband soon.

Dana, I hope you are doing better each day with your daughter's assignment. Sometimes I go such long stretches of time without seeing one of my sons living in my same town that I think he might as well be in Japan.
