Hi ladies, my husband finally got his orders on friday and is graduating this friday coming up..may 1st. Im so excited. We are going to be stationed in Norfolk Va and he will be on the LHA Nassau. Anyone have a sailor in Va or on that ship? Im so excited but soo nervous and scared that he will have to go on a deployment soon. I know its going to happen sooner or later but we've been apar for 7 months, I at least want to have him home for a little bit. If anyone has any info on Va or that ship I'd really appreciate it.

Hi everyone! linda (Sorry i put the wrong name before and deleted it and rewrote this lol) I love the fact that you take the time to share things with us! My son is almost finished with A school, I am nervous about where he will be stationed it's that time when I feel this is really it I miss him now when he is stationed if its far from us how will I deal with it? :( The good thing is Joey sounds so happy and has adjusted very well from what I gather when we talk. He did say he will be able to come and visit before going to where he will be stationed so it's a waiting time for us home. I may have another child leaving for the Navy My 19 year old daughter hit us with her choice a few weeks ago I dont want her to go ! I am pretty stressed out these days.

Thank you Alice,
For starting this site up again (-; and also for your message. Shea graduated yesterday. He told me he did not receive any orders yet? Again, he is a man of few words. Unless he is not telling me everything, he doesn't know what will happen yet. xo Yup...I sure will thank him and all the Service Men/Women. Are we blessed or what!

Hi Randy,
Talked to Shea tonight. He graduates Friday. He said he has not received his orders yet. I want so bad to go see him. Really miss him. He had 3 older birth sisters and we raised 38 foster children since 1975...so he has loads of family. He actually was my last child out the door. I am so very thankful I am a teacher because kids just keep me alive. Shea is so used to having lots of people in his room, at the dinner table, in the house, he likes company!! Sounds like the Navy sort of (-; lots of close quarters. My husband has had two open heart surgeries in the last 2 years, several other heart issues. It has been very sad. We also have an elderly 90 year old Uncle that Shea was named after, living on Vashon Island, WA alone. We have all tried to take care of him. Shea has always had such a good soul, cares about people. We could sure use him in Washington State. (-: So we should hear what is up next soon. I hope he can come home for a little while. We all sure miss him. Thank you for keeping me posted about these things that I could ask Shea. He never wants to worry me...so there you go. I have to ask it on line. So glad to have this site! Very lucky to have all of you!

Linda, he should be finding out where his orders will be like 1-2 weeks prior to finishing A school. no more training after that....But...there is a chance he could be put on hold after school....waiting for a spot on a ship to open up...lets hope not---like Dana said---they get real tired and bored with Great Lakes very fast.....good luck

Hi Carla...NO, Im not real happy about Japan. She seems excited although she is really ready to leave GL. I am one of those clingy moms and I find it real difficult to go even one day without talking to her but that is my problem not hers so Im gonna try real hard to be positive. :)

Randy: Ashley has a cousin, a shipmate from Boot Camp, and a friend that she graduated high school with over in Japan and she has also heard good things about it. I really hope she enjoys herself. It really hurts when they call unhappy and there ain't a thing you can do about it. :) Dana
