Susan J is taking some time off to catch up... So I am updating the rescue list for now! To be added to the list send me (Susan mom to Niko) a friend request. Then you can send me a private message with your name, location and phone number. Then you are added to the list!

Thanks to the many moms and more that have volunteered their names on the rescue list! It is amazing to know that no matter where our sailors travel in the United States there is a mom there ready to rescue them with a hot meal, place to stay, or help to get back on the road!

Comment by Kathy O'M 7 hours ago - Hi Laura, Her son is still in the hospital. I'm picking her up at the airport in about an hour to take her out there. I'm sure she (and he) can use everyone's good thoughts and prayers.

I have to agree with Karen, my son would love to go to Applebees but the only thing he can get close to is McDonalds when they have food to sell. I know they all appreciate home cooked food though so when we see our son in December he will get whatever he wants.

Applebee’s offers free meals to military

By Karen Jowers - Staff writer
Posted : Sunday Nov 9, 2008 8:33:04 EST

Active-duty members, retirees and veterans can get a free meal at a limited number of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants on Veterans Day, with proof of military service.

The 164 participating restaurants in 12 states are testing this promotion, which will offer one of the following entrees: House Sirloin, Riblet Basket, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Quesadilla Burger or Oriental Chicken Salad. Traditional side dishes are included.

“It’s an honor to host an event that helps the neighborhood come together and say thanks to our veterans and active servicemen and women,” said Mike Archer, president of Applebee’s Services, Inc., in a statement announcing the offer.

Troops and veterans must show proof of military service. This can include:

• Military ID card.

• Military retired ID card.

• DD 214 discharge certificate.

• A Leave and Earnings Statement.

• Citation or commendation.

• Photograph in uniform.

• Card from a veterans’ service organization.

Son very ill Back in hospital diagnosis Guillain-Barre syndromePosted by Kristina Arkansas on November 8, 2008 at 12:28pm in General Discussion

I recieved a call from North Chicago Va last night My son was just released last sunday after recovering from pneumonia. He was sent back to the RTC to the holding division to wait to be put back with his division. he started having symptoms of weakness in his arms hands and legs about 3 days ago.He said he couldnt even salute his officers. He got in trouble because they thought he was just faking. They sent him to the hospital yesterday and the e.r dr. also thought he was faking so they sent him for psycic evaluation he was found to be completely sane and not crazy...Thank god they got another Dr. the same one he had when he was sick last week to do some test. Then they put him in the critical care unit...This disorder is very rare and is not well known from what I have found on it. It is when his immune system starts attacking his nervous system. He can't lift his legs at this point and it could cause him to be placed on a ventilator if it attacks his lungs. I talked to the dr. last night and he has told me he is stable for now.I will be contacted if it progresses any I will then fly to chicago. MY PROBLEM is that I dont know how I will get from the airport to the hospital once I get there Renting a car wouldn't be an option because of the cost and then I wouldnt know which way to go anyway... Is there any resources that I can use through the navy to get help with this?Once I get there I will stay at the hospital and sleep in a chair if I have to I just dont want my son alone in a strange place with all of this happening to him. He is scared to death. They have explained to him that it could make him stop breathing so he is just terrified of that happening. He wants to know why me. This only affects 1or 2 in 100,000.If anyone can give me some help or tell me who to contact please let me know...VERY SCARED MOM!!!!!!!
