I will mention that after my son got back from Iraq he didnt find out until a monday that he was going to get his leave for that tuesday and he had plane tickets and everything.

Ashley, a lot of the schools have "standdown" for the holidays which would give Mark time to spend with you if you can make it there. Best wishes for a joyous holiday season for you and your family!

That's what I was thinking Karen...I'm hoping so anyways. It's just all up in the air since we don't knw if he'll be able to get leave and who knows if I go down there how long I'll be able to stay...I hope Monday we'll be able to find more info out.

Maybe someone lives about half way there and you can at least spend the night Ashley.

Hello all, someone from another group told me about this group...my husband is in Pensacola for A School...just arrived last Tuesday. He was supposed to graduate on Dec 15th, his school is only 3 weeks long, and then once he arrived there, they told him he wouldn't start until after Jan 4th. Which means, we don't know if he will be able to get leave to come home for Christmas. I am taking this very hard b/c I wasn't planning on this. Yes i know that things can change so quickly with the Navy but I'm not 100% used to it yet;). If he can't get leave then I will be traveling down to Pensacola to visit him. I am checking flight prices but if they're too expensive, I'll need to drive. We live in Michigan so that's about a 16.5 hour drive. Someone told me to check this group and see if anyone had any ideas?? Thank you:)

Hi all, My home is open for any sailor that can't get home for the holidays. We live about an hour from Great Lakes and would love to host anyone who can't make it home. Please let friends and family know that our house is open!
We can also help family's traveling to Great Lakes this holiday season.
