Welcome to the Pensacola Group

As a reminder: Please don't post your Sailors First and Last name together, address or phone numbers. If you need to pass on this information, please add to your friends list, the person you wish to give this information to. Then you can send them a Private Message.
Wait in A-School at Pensacola has decreased so much. Sailors are classing up in 4-6 weeks instead of 3-6months. The Base at Pensacoa is very beautiful, so your Sailor has a great place to be on hold. I have added a link to Pensacola's web site. Go check it out. There is alot of contact information there.

I am so glad to see all the posts of sailors arriving HOME safely!!! Mine is due in on Christmas Eve.

And YES this leave for Christmas will use their leave days they have earned so far. Most will go in the hole after this. They will have to start earning leave all over again. So enjoy them while you can!

I will be a little scarce for awhile. I am leaving Mid Mo on Tuesday morning and heading to Southern MO for Christmas. Plus trying to get things packed here, then re-packed in Southern MO, for our trip to Florida. So far tentative plans are to leave MO on Jan 3rd and be in FL by Jan 5th. We are stopping in TN to see our daughter in the Air Force, then stopping in GA to see our son in the Air Force, then a couple stops in Northern FL to see some Navy Moms!
AND....we got news yesterday that grandbaby #8 is on the way! Yipeeeeeeeee!!!

My son just surprised us. He walked in the door saying HO, HO, HO. A day early. I am soooo excited. He is laying on the couch watching tv with his sisters and the dog. My holidays are complete. Thank you Lord.

Hi all and HAPPY HOLIDAYS from Tampa! Left yesterday (18th) for P'cola at 7:30 and a nice 71 degress...arrived at 1:45 and 49 degrees to pick up my sailor for leave (hadn't seen him since PIR 9/11). I was sooo excited, got a big hug, and then he was like "ok mom, enough" !!! LOL Picked up a friend of his who is flying out of Tampa today for NY and we headed back to Tampa. We got home at 11:30 last night! What a LOOOONNNNG day, but my son is home and I am sooo happ!!!!!.

When I picked him up, he told me he actually classed up....finally yesterday AM. He had a mini indoc, and his AE class will actually start on Jan 4th. Wow!

Anabel, my son was the same about his uniform. Everywhere we went, he headed to the rest room, not to pee, but to check his appearance. He used to just step out of his jeans, leaving them in a pile on the floor. We'll see while he's home over Christmas if his laundry habits have changed any.

Anabel We too loved watching the uniform tidiness! We too experienced the clothes all over the bedroom floor growing up. Not anymore! The best part is the finance management! I love it : ) ~ kk

Thanks for the welcome MamaBear! I think the name of the base is called Naval Air Station, but he's not at Corry Station, I know that. Just read his Facebook post from yesterday, he said he wished he had made his reservations to come home yesterday. I don't think he realized that it wouldn't count against his leave if he had. (Or would it have?) He just turned 18 at the end of April and has never planned a trip on his own.

Robin - 45 degrees in Pensacola! Well, at least he gets to wear his P-coat! He loves that thing!

Georgia - When we were in GL for his graduation a couple of weeks ago, Justin was constantly checking his uniform while we were out to make sure it was perfect and while we were in the hotel room he put on his favorite old wrinkled jeans only to spot clean and remove the lint from his dress blues pants. Then when he put his sailor pants back on, he laid his jeans on the bed, pressed them and folded them neatly! This is a kid who before he left to BC would throw everything on the floor and didn't care about neatness!

Also the USO is not open 24/7 here in Pensacola...but the hours that they are open is great! The airport here is like a ghost town after midnight!!

Anabel It is 45 degrees here right now...where is our sunshine!!! I bet your son is wondering the same!!! hahaha Robin
