Welcome to the Pensacola Group

As a reminder: Please don't post your Sailors First and Last name together, address or phone numbers. If you need to pass on this information, please add to your friends list, the person you wish to give this information to. Then you can send them a Private Message.
Wait in A-School at Pensacola has decreased so much. Sailors are classing up in 4-6 weeks instead of 3-6months. The Base at Pensacoa is very beautiful, so your Sailor has a great place to be on hold. I have added a link to Pensacola's web site. Go check it out. There is alot of contact information there.

Do you complete phases while you wait to class up?

Good evening everyone! After 8 long months, my daughter's boyfriend has finally left P'cola! He arrived there 02Feb, didn't class up until June. Then, was on hold after graduating...but he's finally here in Nebraska on leave.
We have learned so much from this group and all the special families that are so willing to share information and advice. I always pass on everything I find out to "our" sailor and his family... we all appeciate all of you. Thank you! He's moving on to Oceana NAS group from here..God bless all of you and your sailors!.

Yes, alot depends on their rate, but it's common to be told it'll be this long, then suddenly they class up. That's why it's important that they get signed up for their pre-req classes as soon as possible, so when slots open for class, they're ready. My was told it'll be two months. Three weeks later, he was through his pre-reqs and into class. :-)

Tina - yes that seems to be the norm depending on your Sailors' rate, my son has been in p'cola since 8/7 and just classed up, his A school does not start unitl dec, he figures he'll be in p'cola till about june. His rate it ATI

My son graduated boot camp 9/11 and left the same day also. He was told it might be 2 months before he would start A school so in a way yes that's normal.

Finally, our son has been classed-up and starts on Monday. Yeah!!!! His class is for five weeks and then I guess he'll get leave. We are staying here in Florida awaiting for him to come here for his leave. Hopefully, we will get to head home for Thanksgiving and he'll be on his way somewhere! I'm so relieved that he will finally be in A-School.

I know there have been posts about the Navy paying for expenses to move sailors. My son is moving to Norfolk from Pensacola. He has very little stuff of his own to move, so he'll bring it himself, except for his car. Are we responsible for getting his POV to his base? Was getting ready to look into shipping costs. Thought I'd check here first.
