Welcome to the Pensacola Group

As a reminder: Please don't post your Sailors First and Last name together, address or phone numbers. If you need to pass on this information, please add to your friends list, the person you wish to give this information to. Then you can send them a Private Message.
Wait in A-School at Pensacola has decreased so much. Sailors are classing up in 4-6 weeks instead of 3-6months. The Base at Pensacoa is very beautiful, so your Sailor has a great place to be on hold. I have added a link to Pensacola's web site. Go check it out. There is alot of contact information there.

Boy!! Prayers to the familly of the sailor in the news! Did not hear anything on our news, but I'm up in Illinois - You ladies have been really busy! I haven't been on for over a week it will take me longer then that to read everything I missed! Comment about motorcycles - My sailor does not have his bike with him, but because his drivers license is rated for motorcycles he is required to take a motorcycle safe class. He is stationed in California - just got there 2 weeks ago from P'scola. He took the class today it lasted 8 hours, and now he has to take a second class, because of the type of bike he has. Hope this helps.

Gena and Beth, We visited my son about a month ago and we stayed in a Microtel 8001 Lavelle Way
Pensacola, FL 32526 US Phone: 850-941-8902 It was 8 miles from the base and we really liked the hotel. We found a great rate for the hotel on hotels.com and it was only $35 per night. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean, nothing fancy, but we just wanted a comfortable place to sleep. For the money, it was a great place for us and with the money we saved, we got to spend it on doing a lot of fun things with our son instead of spending it on a pricey hotel room.

Robin- Thanks for letting me know about the Subruban Inn. I booked my reservations there. I have been looking and looking because the Lodge was booked but thankfully the Suburban Extended Stay had really good ratings as well as a price that my husband and I can afford. I think I will be satisfied.
Richell-I usually would stay at the Navy Lodge however they were booked for the dates that I am coming.
Brendaw- In my personal experience I can tell you that school usually does not start exactly when they say on their orders. If your hubby will be there more than 6 months then yes we all recommend moving with him. If not your husband and you will be responsible for all cost of the move and deciding when to move you there. And it is very likely that he would not even be able to live ashore with you. I tried with all my might to try to figure out a way to move and be with him but its just the best thing for us to wait till he gets his permanent duty station, espcially having our small child. Good luck and if there are any other specific questions just ask there are plenty of great people in this group with great info.
Beth- I would def recommend booking where I just did at the Suburban Extended Stay. They have great rates and ratings as that was very imp. to me. Maybe Ill see you there!

Does anyone know a clean reasonable hotel to stay at over Thanksgiving? the Navy Lodge is already booked and we will be driving from the top of Georgia (leaving at 2AM Thanksgiving day) and driving back home on Saturday so we would like a good night's sleep in comfortable beds. (We're old) lol

Hi everyone, my husband will be going to Pensacola this week for A school. In your experience if his orders said that A school starts on a certain day soes it usually start then or could they be on hold for awhile? Also do you have any info on when my daughter and I might be able to move there with him? Is there anything I need to check on in order to move there? I am new to the Navy life so any info is appreciated.

Gena, My husband visited our son a week ago and stayed at the Navy Lodge....right on the beach...convenient to him and his schedule. He thought it was reasonably priced and quite nice...he highly recommends the Lodge.

Gena there is a brand new Holiday Inn express on Warrington Rd just north of Chiefs Way it is less than a mile to Corry Station and about 3 miles to NAS Pensacola...both have gates off Warrington Rd...Some people stay at the Suburban Inn or Lodge too...that is on Gulf Beach Highway/Barrancas Ave right at the Warrington road intersection

Does anyone have any recommendations of hotels to stay in near the base when visiting? I already know about the Navy Lodge, but are there any others anyone would recommend?

Arwen...I would call it relatively safe during the day ...I would not be in those areas after dark...especially alone. I eat in those fast foods restaurants alot and see alot of sailors during the day. Also there are two entrances to Corry Station...on is on Chief's Way...that is probably what you googled and where the girl was shot...the other entrance is less populated...the Pensacola Junior College Campus is across the street and the Navy Hospital is down the street and that is about it of about a mile in the west direction and to the intersection in the east direction.

Hutchinsons mom...Blue Angel Homecoming is Veterans Day weekeend...Nov. this was it. Next air show here is July..except for practices!!
