Sailors Stationed At Lemoore NAS

My Sailor, Joshua is stationed at Lemoore NAS he's VFA94, but deployed with the Marines to Japan and returns sometime in Jan 09. He's just been pinned Cheif Petty Officer(CPO). He maintains the F18's in Lemoore and now in Japan. He's been at Lemoore for about 5 years now and his brothers are living in Colorado, where we lived and he met his wife. He married his high school sweetheart and they have 2 children, 1 of each and have been married 8 years.

My husband moved us to Virginia in1997 for a job, that lasted only 2 years, but we were stuck and he found work with one of his customers from his first job. So now we are here in VA until we retire, then it's back to CO for the rest of our family and 6 other grandchildren.

Josh and his wife, Kari, just bought a house in Lemoore, so it looks like he is staying there for a while.

Jump in and tell us about your Sailor at Lemoore. It's a beautiful Base. I tell you, the Navy have nice bases!

Hi Tori4Josh, thanks for starting this. Both my sons were based at Lemoore for their first two years in the Navy. One got out and the other is still in Lemoore. He is a Petty Officer 2nd Class and is in his 6th year. He married a local Lemoore girl whose dad is retired from the Navy. She knows the benefits of the Navy and wants him to stay in. My son is in VFA 25, Aviation Electronics, maintaining F18's. He started in a rag squadron and it was rough but now likes the squadron he is in. They are out on the Reagan now. He has one son, 10 mos. old and is missing his family something awful! I have to Lemoore numerous times and the base is fine but the small town, bad air quality, etc. is not for me. I'm a lifelong residence of the Pacific NW and couldn't live there.

Hello Barbara, it's nice to meet you. I agree with you on the local town and air quality, or lack of. It also gets awful hot out there in the summer even into the fall. I used to live in Southern Calif and it was even hot through the fall. I hated it and moved to Colorado with my son. He esentially grew up in CO with the nice air, but now its getting bad with all the Californians moving out there! lol My husband got a job in Virginia in 97 so we moved out east. It's beautiful here and we have bought a house out here and will most likely stay here until we retire, which is about 10 more years and then plan to move back to CO, but not Colorado Springs. We plan to be within 2hrs from our kids and grandkids, except most likely Josh's family. They like it out there, don't ask me why, but they do.

Most of our immediate family is 30 minutes to an hour from the Springs, so its there we want to be. We have 3 sons between us and 8 grandchildren, 6 living in CO. Josh's wife's parents live in Colorado Springs, so CO will always be "home".

hi! wow small world,our son is with your son in japan he's with vfa-94..our son has been in the navy for 3 and half yrs,he's an e-4 ..he has a wonderful girlfriend and her family in lemoore,we are planning to go out for there homecoming in january.to surprise our son,we are just waiting on return date..he has been trying to get us out to lemoore all these 3 yrs..our sone was just transfered to the vfa-94..he was with the vfa-122..we live in texas, but i was raised in california till i turned 16..then my parents moved my family back here to texas..my husband was army for 10yrs,we met in california and married here in texas..i work full time at walmart..our son is our only child,so it's hard for us all,we are a close nit family..this is our first tour,overseas..i'm just glad this tour is almost over for us all..yes california is so nice year round..thank you so much,i can't wait to chat with you more...god bless you and Happy Thanksgiving..your friend rhonda emery

Rhonda, small world is right! Joshua could very well be your son's boss!! How wierd would that be? LOL
I just checked in for a quick look and to send and e-card to my son for his birthday tomorrow the 29th. His 32nd, gosh he makes me feel old! LOL

Hi Rhonda, My son started out 5 years ago in VFA 122 also. He's now in VFA 25, an AE. He married a local girl, she's 22 now, it's such a small town that she probably knows your son's gf! Small world getting smaller!

Hi ladies, I am new to this group as my son just arrived in Lemoore about 3 weeks ago. He is with VFA 125. We are from Texas so he is a long way from home but seems to be loving it. We are hoping to visit him either in March during my daughters spring break or summer vacation. Hope to get to know all of you.
