Does anyone know how C school selections are made for ET comms? Is it only the top ( ? number) of A school ET comms for most of them go on to C school. Where is C school for ET comms? Still at Groton? Thanks for any info you can provide. My son is currently in ET comm A school - Groton. Thanks for your help.

Kirsten is exactly right, Nikki - I'll add that they've recently broken ET out of the SECF into a Nav-ET 5YO program; but the training is still much the same. I Believe SECF is now down to the STS and FT ratings. FTs (Fire Control) are the ones who target the weapons (working closely with sonar, or STS) - he'll find out about three weeks into BESS which one he'll end up in.

SECF stands for Submarine Electronic Computer Field if he's going for this he will be In Groton for atleast 11 months. He will be going to BESS (basic enlisted sub school), ATT (advanced technical training) TECNO and A school.

I'm fairly new to this group although I'm not on here as much as I'd like to be. Five kids and I'm going to school too. :P

My son doesn't leave for BC until March so I have no idea where he is going to A school. I've got questions: Should he know what A school he'll be going to by now? What does SECF stand for? And as an SECF, does that mean he will be an ET, FT, or STS? Spencer said he knows he will be on a sub, targeting the weapons but that's all.

My son also graduated on a Thursday from A school. I don't think we knew the exact date until 5 or 6 weeks before it happened.

"A" school grads are on Thursdays - my son grads this week as an STS, and is coming "home" to Bangor on Kentucky Gold!

Does anyone know if all graduations are on a Friday? My son is still pretty vague, mentioning the 15th and the 18th of December for his A school graduation. I need to change my plane tickets and time is getting short for me to do that.
