Hi Mel,

he will be in Groton the whole time hun. My Son is a FT also and he went through BESS (49 days), Techno (30 days or less self paced) , ATT (same as techno) and A school ( 4 months). Lee says the school isn't to bad you just have to study a lot (they do have night studies also). Usually between classes they sometimes on hold , depends on how long the hold is they might be able to travel. If you have any more questions just ask away :)

Melynda, My son is an FT on the Greeneville and he only went to school at Groton. The 18 months were broken into three parts and he had a 2 week leave twice during the 18 months. He came home for 8 days at Christmas that year, and two weeks in the spring before deploying as a rider on the Springfield for six months. WELCOME!!

Hello, new to this group. My son leaves for BC 08.17.09. He has signed up for subs to be a FT. I know he will go to CT, WA and GA for school. Can anyone give me helpful hints to share with him. Is school very difficult? Is it all classroom work? Are they in school for 18 months or does this 18 months include breaks and travel time between the three school. Thanks for any comments and advice you have to offer.

I got a call from my sailor boy last night. They are back in port after their test run and there was very few issues with the newly fitted sub!!! YAY! He is about 26 points from his fish and hopes to have them very soon! It was good to hear his voice and know that he is safe and sound. Thanks for the prayers.

Cool, we went to CT for our son's grad from sub school. We made it our summer vacation and stayed a week in Mystic camping and it was a fabulous time.
