Good morning ladies! It's so good to hear from you!! Robin, I am so excited for Brett, but sad for you at the same time! IT IS HARD to be away from Ashley for so long. I miss her, but am so proud still of her and her choice of the Navy. I wear my pin (thanks Cathy!) and I wear my N4M t-shirt all the time, and get GREAT comments from people - THEY are so proud of our kids too :)) Paula, it's so great the married couple is doing well!!! It will be great when you go visit them, and THEY will LOVE the visit... Spike and I had only one visitor while we were in the Army, and it was my grandparents from Kansas coming all the way to GA to visit us - it was WONDERFUL....even tho they were OLD AND couldn't see ten feet in front of them, it was the most loving visit, and Spike and I both missed Kansas, and seeing them got us through that year. So....enjoy :))) Robin, when Brett heads to FL, I'm sure I don't have to remind you that Ashleys down there, and I'm sure those two would like to hang out. Why don't you email me later on Robin, and I'll send you Ashleys cell phone number for Brett to take with him? If you want, I'd be glad to do that. Div. 917'ers gotta stick together!!! I have OH SO BAD about checking the computer and email - Spike keeps tabs on it for me, and I'm a total farm-working-dog these days! Two days a week now I go to my moms, and three days here working the farm, and the weekends, well......recently - our baby-boy graduated from High School....last saturday night. So Spike and I have been celebrating that accomplishment (Trey's AND ours!!). No more kids in school!!!! YEAH! NOW I can finally write the school board with all my thoughts about how they run their schools :)) :)) :)) The farm and berry field is doing beautiful, loaded with blueberries and strawberries currently. Sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, canteloupe is all growing nicely too. Katy, my oldest (24) still lives with us and works full-time at Petsmart, and I'm glad for her company. Trey plans on moving out this summer (we'll see.....things are pretty good for him here :))) ) So, that's the Durkin story for now Ladies - I think of you all everytime I wear my pin, and my N4M shirt :))) Thanks again for just "being there"....we all still have so much in common, and I'm glad you all continue posting here. Take care Mommas!!!! Hugs to you, love, Patty in Kansas

Hi everyone!
Good to see everyone checking in from time to time. Robin, it must be nice to have Brett come home so often. You'll be fine when he goes to Pensacola. Thank goodness for cell phones and computers!! Ryan is actually coming home on Memorial weekend and I CAN'T WAIT!! I have not seen him since PIR, which seems like a century ago!!!!
I am having a family BBQ on Sunday before he has to go back and it will be so good to see him. He graduates from A school on June 25th. My husband and I will drive out to Chicago to see him graduate as a corpsman, but he will be grad' n go and leaving that afternoon for C school. Time seems to be going by, but it is so hard not seeing them. I hope everyone is doing great, I hope all your kids are doing great, and I think of you all often. Let's keep in touch from time to time with our kid's progress. They will always be a part of the great Division 917 where it all began!! Take care......Cathy

Hi everyone. Brett has finished his ATT class and will be moved to Pensacola on the 28th. He is home this weekend for the last time. :( So I will be going through the same thing as all of you have already done. The separation anxiety!
Brett has been able to come home about 5 times since PIR. It has been wonderful to see him so often and now I know comes the difficult part of really letting him go. I hope all of your children are well and happy. Really miss chatting with all of you. Robin

Good evening Ladies!! Had a bad time with my computer for almost a month!! Wasn't a virus...just temperment I say. This house is so old it really hates technology but this was going to far!! I really miss all of you and wanted ya'll to know that. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day.
Bobby and Elice are settled in and working hard to keep up with their studies. I'm still planning a summer trip to Goose Creek to see them...looking so forward to it. Take care and be safe this summer!!

Hi Ladies! Long time no talk! Hard to believe how time is flying now! We got our yearbook the day after you Robin - I've sent it on to Ashley. Yolanda, YES - I'm so happy to be able to talk to Ashley now. Funny, because I sort of miss writing her! Good news Momma - Ashley FINALLY started school! ATT school started last Friday. She goes from 6:30 am to 2:45 pm mon-fri. She has PT two times a week, and guard duty every-other weekend. Mid-june is when this school ends, and after that, maybe she'll move over to Correy station, where the crypto school is. If there's any down time between, she'll possibly be able to fly home for a weekend. Alot of if's and maybes there....but one can only hope :)))) Ashley's ex-boyfriend Spike, who joined 6 weeks after Ashley, is having his PIR today! Honors division 923 for him. He was OUR quad drummer in High School - Robin - (in one of my photos here, it shows Ashley with the marching band at Sonic for a pep rally - Spike is on the quads on that photo. I wonder if he did sort of what Brett did while at Bootcamp.....I'll ask his Mom. Congrats to him and his family tho - seems like yesterday we all were there! He and Ash are still friends, and he'll be heading to Pensacola next week. Farm life is active as you all can imagine, mowing and tilling and planting and pruning...so I am not on the computer as much as in the winter time, so apologies in advance for staying away, just know I think of you all often, and will continue to stay in touch when I can. Hugs to all of ya - I too think of you often!! Patty :-)

Hi everybody! Brett has finally started class. It is an ATT class. Not sure exactly what that means but at least he is no longer on hold. He is in a night class. Goes to school 4pm until 1am with 45 min for supper in the galley. Says he has to be awake for muster at 6am but then can go back to bed for a little while.
Hang in there Elda, sounds like Amber is doing well.
Happy Easter to everyone.
Elda, Proud mom of Amber Comment by Elda, Proud mom of Amber on April 8, 2009 at 2:45am
Hello all, Amber is doing the A school thing at the Great Lakes. She says right now its all computer stuff and safety. Can hardly wait for her to come home for a while before she gets shipped off. Have really been struggling with my empty nest. I hadn't felt really sad all this time she was in bootcamp, guess it finally hit me. But she is really happy and loving the Navy!
Paula/son&dil in Navy Comment by Paula/son&dil in Navy on April 5, 2009 at 11:13pm
Well, I guess if I had to be on hold I would rather it be in Pensacola...my favorite haunt. But I know what you mean...and it only delays the graduation and moving on to the actual job. Elice had to wait a week after my son started classes because they cannot tend them together. She will start tomorrow finally. I, too, hope Ashley starts soon....although, I am still envious of her tropical setting, lol. The more I feel the heat coming in the more I miss the beaches.
Be well and give Ashley a big Happy Birthday from New Orleans!!
