Got the box today - actually two of them. Hated to wash the contents - stood at washer and smelled her shirt - then put it in. Wish I could just talk to her - see how she is doing. I know I sure miss her alot.

Got MaKayla's address yesterday. Called the recruiter and he was very happy to give it to me. She is Division 044 Ship 3. Will be sending off a letter today.

BarbJ is so very correct! Then A school and A school grad! For some this cycle goes another two rounds with B and C...then on to the fleet!

Stay connected Cheryl- this will be the slowest fastest 8 weeks you have ever gone thru! We are here for you for both the ups and downs! When they call Liberty at her PIR, this will all be a blur!

Well she is gone. Thought that I would be able to take to Indy alone - not. I just could not do it. We called the recruiter Tuesday morning and he took her up for us.
We got the call last night at 7:37pm. "I am here. I love you mom. Talk to you in a few weeks. Look for my box. Kiss, Kiss, Bye". Got up this morning to kiss her bye before I left for work - and she was not there - then I remembered....

Hey Cheryl- we found out at the last minute that we could meet Sarah at MEPS before she left. We had all said our good byes and Dad couldn't do it again. I went up by myself and spent the better part of the day with her before she left. I remember that cry oh, so well, but wouldn't trade those hours for anything. The crazier thing was when she was leaving for Sicily and I dropped her off at Indy airport and she got to Norfolk before I got back to Bedford. Get ready for that rollercoaster ride......but I bet you will be one proud mama when you see how strong and independent of a sailor you get in this deal!!

MaKayla has been delayed by one day - we go to Indy tomorrow and leave for GL on Wednesday. My heart is breaking - we just have that kind of relationship where I do not know what I am going to do without her. I am trying very hard to keep it together - but the plans of her dad and I taking her to Indy have been altered due to the change of days. I now will be taking her by myself. I guess I will have that 2 hour drive from Indy to cry my eyes and heart out.

Welcome Cheryl- N4M is the place to come when you are sure you are losing your mind during bootcamp. I can't believe we are hitting our first year anniversary. My daughter left for bootcamp last December. My best advice to you in the next couple of weeks, take all the mom/daughter time you can! I remember, just before Sarah left, she came to my bed and we watched some dumb old movie and giggled, laughed and chatted half the night. That memory really helped me during my low times of missing my baby during bootcamp! And it gets soooo much better after bootcamp! My daughter is a corpsman with her duty station in Sicily. I couldn't have more respect or be more proud of her!

Hello - I am originally from Vincennes, but we now live in Lawrenceville, IL (just across the Wabash). My daughter, MaKayla will be leaving for boot camp on Oct. 28th. She is excited about leaving, but I on the other hand am a basket case (of course I do not show my tears to her). She is my baby.
