Navy For Moms

Submarine moms are special:
--- All of us have boys,
--- Who serve on "boats,"
--- With whereabouts unknown, and
--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out (72 days for a boomer)!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

Hi Vicky, Congratulations to your son!!! My name is also Vicki (with an i), and my son is also about to go on his first 6 month, and is a radioman too. Isn't that funny!!! He is on the USS Albany, out of Norfolk. We are all so very proud him, but I am sad because this will be the first Christmas without him, and my other son is away at college and won't be home for Thanksgiving either, so I'm starting to feel like they're going to be very lonely holidays this year! So let's keep in touch Vicky, as our kids go thru this adventure of their lives!

My son, Jon, is aboard the USS Houston in Guam. He joined the crew in June, 2009. He's about to go on his first "longer" mission. I heard you can get e-mails once in a while. Is it just his boat, or are they all so mean to one another...especially the new guys. I never hear of any comradery. I was amazed at that. I thought the enemy was out there...not the guys on your own crew. I am greatly discouraged with the Navy now.

My son serves aboard the Jackson , blue team, in Wa. He is a Chief Nav/ET .He has been in for 11 years, first served aboard the Parche, her sail is now outside the new museum in Bremerton, Wa. If you get a chance to visit it is worth your time, there is a room dedicated just to the Parche, she was the most decorated ship in the Navy, we were at her decommisioning a proud and sad moment in Navy history.
