Navy For Moms

Update to below: If you're able to commit to getting together for a Kuwait packing party please respond to this and let us know.......packages need to be mailed out between October 24 and October 30th!

******This is a notice to all the Navy for Moms and loved ones in the Austin area - please reply to this posting if you'd like to join us for a packing party! What's a packing party you ask? It's when we get together to pack boxes to send to our Sailors far from home. Molly's Adopt a Sailor is a group who coordinates this on a monthly basis.

Other states coordinate packing parties - let's show them what BIG hearts we have here in our State! Since Texas is SO big, this is to those who live in the Austin area and/or who are close enough to join us here. If you don't live close to this area, no worries - please please please form a group from your area and jump in!

So, start gathering items to send and let us know if you'll be able to make it - a date and place has yet to be scheduled but it will be towards the end of this month (September).

Sorry, I am not familiar with the Austin area at all!! My friends, who I will stay with (if I get to go) live in the Round Rock or Cedar Park area.
I am just excited that someone in Texas is starting to do this!

Actually, I'm closest to Round Rock myself. I live outside of Pflugerville.

Texas Mom, Thank you so much for getting together.... I`ve gotten moms in the DFW area going. Did you find a place to have it?

Reply to This

Well I'm just outside of Austin, in Elgin and I would love to help. Let me know when and were.

Hi Seashell! Right now it's you and me, girl! LOL! If it's just you and me, heck, we can meet right down the road as I live outside of Manor. Where is your child (son/daughter)? Are they out of Boot Camp?

Texas Mom of 2, My son is serving on board the USS Harry S. Truman. I even asked him for a list of what he would like in a box. Pretty much jives with the MA's list, just a little shorter.

Well hello there... Did you get any others to help in the packing party? You and I will talk week after next about the next thing and how we can approach it... Can't wait.....

Texas Mom of 2, Do we need a place to hold this packing party at. I have friends at the Elgin Library. I could see if their community room is available. Last I knew they didn't charge to use the room for things like this.

Texas Mom of 2,
I talked to the Elgin Library and it is fine with them to use their community room for packing party/parties. They just asked that we give them several dates to chose from as they may have something already scheduled on some dates.
I have also talked to some of my local chapter DAR members and they may be willing to help with supplies and/or shipping costs.
