Hi to all Texas Moms!!! My son Justin joined the NAVY at the end of July and has been in the DEP for 3 months now. He is scheduled to go to GL on 1/12/09. We live outside of Houston in The Woodlands, Texas. I am excited to be a part of this group and hope to learn all I can in the next few months before my son departs.

Hi y'all!!! I'm new to this group and want to say it's great to be here. I am a sailor and the mom of a sailor. We are from the Houston/Galveston area. We are currently in Virginia but we sure do miss Texas. I hope all is well with everyone. Take care.

Christie, where r u? I'm in Denison.... I'm looking forward to my daughter getting out of boot camp, its so hard not talking to her!!
Shell stay in GL for A school. Shes going into IC

Hi Gina, I'm north of Dallas. So north I'm almost in OK! But my son has already graduated from BC and is almost done with A school in San Antonio. He loves the whole experience of the Navy, and A school. I will hope that continues. What about yours?

Sharol, when did your son/daughter leave? Did they leave from San Antonio? Jamie left the 23 from there. Just wondering if they left together.

We left Texas a few days early and I was glad to get to the hotel on Thurs night so we could down time a few hours before PIR... I was so tired but it was the way to go. I suggest when you leave Texas you make your trip to Arrive on Thur night somewhere close to the base.. and get some rest...it will be a busy weekend. Ya'll have fun

We drove from Dallas for PIR 9/26, drove straight through the night and got to the Navy Lodge at 9:30am. I just want to let you know they were kind enough to let us check in at that time. Good luck to you all, it is quite the experience.

Congrats Sue! We are leaving for GL on Thursday from Houston. Can't wait to see my Sam! I am so proud of him!
