Hi,
I would be eternally grateful if all of you would pray for our recruits that are having
trouble passing some of the "tests" and are being given a chance for retake.
It's like they are being made to feel like rejects if they have to take a test a second time.
My son's last letter, is the first one that really sounded like he is questioning
his decision to join. I didn't expect to hear that 6 weeks in.
My continued prayers for all of you, for our sons and daughters that they may
feel God's presence and be confident of His love and in their abilities.
Continued prayers for your Dad Cameowlot....
Thanks, Jan

Cameowlot,
The prayers are still being lifted.

cameowlot: Please thank your father for his military service and send him my blessings for a successful cure and speedy recovery. I admire his courage to continue the fight. You and your son are fortunate to have him for a role model.

I want to thank everyone for your prayers for my father who was diagnosed (again) with Leukemia. He has decided to try the only option given as a cure (very low cure rate, very risky) and will be admitted to start the bone marrow transplant in a few days. He said the military molded him to be a fighter (always has been) and he refuses to give up, and thinks he can beat this but willing to die at least trying. I am at peace after he talked with me with his choice. All we can do at this point is pray he wins this battle....
Thank you for all your prayers and support, it has been such a blessing to all of us, especially my 'soon to be sailor' who is very close to my dad. My dad is beaming with joy that his grandson is following in his footsteps...

Some call right after Battlestations - 7 - 8am Great Lakes time; others eat and take a nap and then call - 2 or 3pm Great Lakes time.

What time of day did you get the "I'm a sailor call"?
denise Comment by denise on August 26, 2009 at 8:57pm
Hi every one just checking in and reading all your comments congrats to all the new sailors. Battle stations is always scary but it is what it is. It sure keeps us on our toes though. Cameowlot Hope your dad has a fun day make his last days full of laughs. Blessing to all!!

If they make it to Battle Stations, they pretty much have made it through. I agree with Melissa, My son Trent graduated last week and he said the same thing, no one really fails unless it is something major and he also thought it was easy. Good luck MN mom and have a great time at PIR. We just got back Monday and absolutely had a wonderful time. The time goes by fast so cherish every single moment with your Sailor. Cameowlot, I am so sorry for what you are dealing with. I will be praying for your father and your family.

The current simulator for battlestations went online in July 2007. No one has failed yet. The Navy uses battlestations to make the recruits THINK it is the hardest thing they'll ever do. My son thought it was easy.
Mary Ellen Comment by Mary Ellen on August 23, 2009 at 11:15pm
I don't think you have anything to worry about. If a recruit were not going to make it through battle stations it would have to be a really, really big mistake. I don't think the RDC's will let that happen! They want our recruits to succeed. Get ready to hug your sailors!
Prayers of thanks are going out to all our brave and courageous young people!
