Scott - Megan's Husband Comment by Scott - Megan's Husband on February 26, 2009 at 9:21am
The thing is DQs are for MEPS. She shouldn't have to deal with them after she is in and after she has completed training. Then to have them tell her that it would be too expensive for them to keep her b/c they 'might' have to treat them over and over. Please 90% of kidney stones pass w/out the need of a meidcal professional. There are dietary changes that can be made to reduce the risk of kidney stones as well. If it comes down ot a % that she might have to take some time off from work b/c of a kidney stone then I am suprised the don't force birth control on women since that is a larger contributor to loss of man hours on ship than anything else. If it is a % game then anyone who is seen as clumbsy in boot camp should be let go b/c they could trip and hurt themselves on ship and need medical attention. Statisitics are probabilities that apply to a generalization and all generalizations are bad including this one.

Scott, Try getting a letter from a Urologist, this would carry more weight than from an internist or GP as this is one of his "things". Good luck I will keep you in my prayers. As a long time (27 years) working at the VA believe me when you receive a "Congressional" as we call them, things move and get taken care of PDQ

Mary(Bryan's Mom)
Jordan is the same way he is in GL on hold
he is also still a Phase 1, tried to take the test once and missed by 2 points
I agree that the boredom is discouraging him
He is not the same man that we saw graduation weekend, that weekend he could not stop talking about the things he had done, and now all he talks about is how much he hates it and wants out

So we are fighting it. I spent all of today talking to any Navy person I could find. I found several who HAVE kidney stones and are still in. I also did some research on kidney stones to show that it isn't serious enough to preclude her from service. I sent some letters to congressmen. I am trying to get some doctors to write me a letter stating that kidney stones are NOT a problem. I am also trying to get a letter from a Captain (O-6) stating the need to retain my wife. We will not let this go silently. I have told my wife to request mast and to take it all the way up to the President if need be.

did anyone send a group message to the old group yet to tell them about this one?
Kathleen ~ Pauls mom Comment by Kathleen ~ Pauls mom on February 25, 2009 at 4:03pm
Wow am I glad to find you guys again. Paul (div 094) is currently in Pensacola waiting for A school. His orders said start March 10th when he got there he was told they are backlogged for months and he may be there 6 months or more just waiting for school to start. He is going crazy, but has a cell phone so I get to talk with him and starting yesterday he started wearing civvies on off time.
Scott,
I am so sorry to hear about Megan, I cannot believe they are doing this! Kidney stones are so treatable and should not DQ her from the Navy. Are you all going to appeal this?
