Well looks like they amended his orders so that the Navy will move him, so we cancelled the truck this morning! Not sure we have a move date yet. He is coming home on Thursday night to drive to Groton with Erin on Friday with their "essentials". To get them through the next 14 days, 30 days or 3 months. Who knows what the date may be. Will keep you all posted. Joey, glad that Katie is beginning school. Bob is starting his third at the moment and has loved every one so far. Tell he we say good luck.

Hi Joey! So glad to hear that Katie is off and running with school. How cool that she will be finished on your b-day! Your so right about the worrying.. that will never change!

Karen-- good luck hope all works out for Bob and things can settle down so he can enjoy his new married life!

Hello everyone. It's been awhile. I hoe this finds everyone doing well. Things here are going good. Katie has her first official day of school tomorrow. She will finish up 7/17- my b-day. What a sweet one to get to pick her up and bring her home for a little while. Not sure where she will end up as of yet. We should know in about 3 weeks.

That statement Gina posted is so true. At least we have each other to get us through. Thanks for sharing with us.

Karen- It seems you get over one rollcoaster to get on the next. I hope they are doing well.

Diane- I am so glad Rusty is back to sounding like he should. It is so hard not worry when they are our babies no matter how old they are.

Kathleen- I know your glad Paul is close by and I know he is glad school is started.

I am so glad everyone still touches base here. It is so nice to see how things are progressing for everyone. Have a great day!! :)

Hi all haven't been on for a long time just trying to catch up as well. Jess is home on leave and then she goes to VA. Wow lots have changed to all of us Jess has found the love of her life, and is getting married.(Soon). I have missed her and kinda forgot what it was like to worry about her but now that she is home and going to be closer I think that i will be worring just like before she left about her and her safety. I printed the statement from Gina and will try to remember this. I know that we can't change anything and that we just have to be supportive of all of there decisions and after all THIS IS THE NAVY!! Things are always done in there time (fast or slow) what ever they choose. Jess is worried about going to the fleet but she knows that she is only a short distance away. She is very excited to get back to the east coast and she is glad to be out of the GL. It is just breaking Spring there now. Well hope every one has a very nice summer, and I will talk to you soon.

That has been my saying for the past year, at least. "It is what it is". Just kinda sums it all up don't you think? Bob will find out tomorrow whether the Navy will move him or not. First it was yes, then it was yes but not now, then it was no, not at all....so we have a bunch of different plans waiting and will see which one goes into effect tomorrow. One way or the other, they will both be in Groton by 6/9 with some or all of their stuff.

Kudos Gina.. printing it as well. So many ups and downs in this journey our children have taken!

I copied this from Sharon on the Nuke site....thought it was worth passing on (I printed it and framed it)

What this experience has taught me:

There is someone in charge and it is not me.
Things do not always work out the way I am expecting them to and I have no control over any of the steps or outcomes.
My ONLY role is to support and encourage my sailor through the waits and the disappointments with a sunny disposition and positive outlook.
It makes no difference the who, what, where or why.
All that matters is the IS!!
Wanting, hoping and wishing change nothing.
And lastly, it is what it is.

Never a dull moment. Thought all was going smoothly. Screeech! Did you all hear it too? Bob was told that the Navy cannot move him until October because of the budget and the holds. So now he has to move himself or lose the housing! Yikes. So poor thing now has to dish out $1000 to move up to Groton. And the Navy won't reimburse him. Luckily he will be able to come home and drive up with the wife. Should be an interesting trip for them. Towing a car and driving a truck. Welcome to the Navy!

Hi All! Glad to hear all is well. Rusty did not get to come home :( he classed up immediately upon arriving to SD and is now back in school. All in all he is glad. LOVES SD and is thrilled to be there. He sounds like the ole Rusty when I spoke to him earlier today!

Karen, glad that Bob is happy with his living quarters and his wife is absolutely beautiful. Congrats again to all of you!

Kathleen-- Nice to hear that Paul is doing well and school is now underway for him. It is a long haul isn't it? Good that he can come home when he can! That is a huge plus!

Nancy -- Maryland is not so bad I am sure he will enjoy it once he gets there! :) smiles and hugs your way.

Yana-- left a message on your page!

Karen!!!!!! so so sorry to hear about the granddad! Your dad or hubby's? I am so glad that John was able to come home both times. I know your very busy with spring here and flower time! I hope we can catch up soon!

Time sure is flying by isn't it :) I hope everyone has a great summer!

Kathleen, Bob started ATT school as well this week, but in Groton. He actually has been moving through pretty fast. No real holds as of yet. Unfortunately, not within travel radius of us. We plan to try and get up there this summer.
