deb- i sent cake in a jar to my sailor a couple months ago. it seemed like a great idea at the time! i was really excited for him to be able to have real cake for his birthday. unfortunately, it had spoiled over the two weeks of shipping. i was told it could last up to a month, and i followed the directions perfectly after searching recipe over recipe to be sure i got it right.

i've heard of some success stories, but mine sure wasn't. best of luck if you try it! i personally won't try it again though unless i am sending it to him when he's back at base! good luck!

no information has been released... you should request to be added to the Ombudsman and Family Readiness Grp email trees so you can get CORRECT news and information when its available. its for ALL FRIENDS and FAMILY!

hi everyone......my son's birthday is coming up in early november and i want to send his package out this month so it gets there in time. i'm wondering......has anyone tried that cake-in-a-jar idea, and how did it work out? thanks!

Thanks for the info; I know I need to make sure to remind my Sailor to order the book.

Also, for those who have the order forms for the deployment photos, tomorrow is the deadline for ordering. You can still order them after tomorrow, but there will be a $10 late fee.

Yay for halfway too!! Michelle just emailed and said Cruise books are going on sale soon. So make sure your Sailor orders one. Also she said to watch the Family site for Tiger Cruise details. They are not out yet, but she said they will be soon.
