About 65 miles between Nagasaki and Fukuoka. Nagasaki is south of Sasebo and Fukuoka is northeast.

hi Kyann, I am sure whatever you do Hunter will love it! I know that when Josh is home he just wants to spend as much time as possible with family and friends. He sleeps very little as he jams in so much fun! Our home is a revolving door and normal routines are shot! And we LOVE every minute of it! And of course I make sure all of his favorite foods are in the house. And I don't think watching him sleep is crazy :-) Each time I passed his room, I would pause to watch! Flights can be confusing because they lose a day when they go back!
Blueshirtmom, I too am hoping the sailor gets to go home!!
Happy Friday!!!

Mary - not sure I remember the last time for the 'blue bus'.  When we flew over to see Katie, the last blue bus was full and we took a different bus and paid when we got to the station in Sasebo.  Then Katie got a taxi to get to the base.

Katie made her own travel plans.  She always made sure she could get the earliest flight out possible once her leave began and then would plan to return the latest possible, but give herself a little time for late arrivals and such.  Make sure he has the proper contact #s for the CO, or whoever he has to report to, just in case he is late. Communication is important.

Kyann, the last bus to the ship from FUK is 23:30 I think. (Marianne may remember better than me). It was either 10:30 or 11:30 PM.  As long as he arrives in FUK the evening before they have to be "at work" he'll be fine.

Blueshirtmom, I haven't heard of sailors being turned down for leave this year (there were fewer able to go last year). Hoping the BHR sailor you know is able to get leave!

Hi ladies,

I'm actually a Carl Vinson Mom but one of my son's best friends from high school is assigned to the LHD6.  There were 4 of them that all enlisted around the same time. One stationed in Hawaii, my son and another stationed in Coronado and then this other friend stationed in Sasebo.  Of the 4 3 of them have had leave, but Sasebo is going on 2 full years since he's seen his family (asside from Skype).  I haven't heard yet but I am soooooooooo hoping this year will finally be his turn.  He is actually taking it all in stride but his mom is the one I feel for. She has lost her mother since he's been gone and still has 2 other kids still at home.

Anyways, thanks for letting me pop in and have a wonderful Christmas and time with your sailors if they get leave.  Navy Moms are sooooo awesome!!!

so, i could use some advise about making hunter's visit wonderful.  anything you can think of...from driving to sleeping to eating to anything! thinking about going in when he is sleeping and just watching him, is that crazy or what?  is there anything i should be sensitive to, other than he's going to have jet lag for a while, and i know he's grown up a bit, just hoping he'll still let me be his mom, plus a friend.  i'm so excited!  he asked me to make his flight arrangement back.  :(  again, i am so nervous about making them, don't really know why, guess i don't want him to be late getting in.  the airlines confuse me as to when they arrive in FUK, so, any advise there would be nice.  i'm thinking united or delta is going to be the least expensive, at least from dayton, which allows him to leave later in the day than columbus...his request...  :)  ok, enough babbling...thanks for any and all advise!

have a wonderful evening, all!
