Thanks for the good wishes and prayers :) Need all we can get!

My son will be 21 on Dec 23.....

Lord, I really hope he makes it home - We've invited over 100 people, planned on live music, kegs, and lots of home cooking. It's very hard having to wait until the last minute - we're all working so hard planning this party......that may have to be canceled!

I really wish I knew where he was too. I kinda have an idea, but he could not tell us anything during our last conversation...

I did purchase him the ship to shore phone cards this morning. I hope he gets them soon.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving ~ Michelle

oh, trueblue, i hope your son gets to come home.  my son has been there a little over a year.  says he will take leave, but haven't heard anything for sure or when.  his birthday is in december, as is his dad's, too, so we'll have lots to celebrate all at once.  he will be 23.

sharon, that is great that you got to meet up with kimtn.  wish you could have traveled closer to ohio.  :)

not too much going on with me, other than working too much!  hehe

have a great weekend, all!

Good Morning,

My son is also aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. He has been in Japan for nearly two years. Seems like an eternity for me and his sisters. For months, he has been sheduled to come home mid-December for about ten days, Which is very exciting b/c he would be home for his 21st birthday and Christmas!

After reading some of your posts, I have become a bit worried about him actually  making it home. And then yesterday morning he sent an email stating that he may have to postpone his trip - a day or two - IDK, I have a bad feeling about this...I have not mentioned anything to his sisters - they would go into meltdown (as will I) if he doesnt make home. We have also planned a huge Welcome Home/21st B-Day party for him...May have to cancel that ;{ The wait is so stressful. To think we are finally one month away, after not seeing our son for two years. Just the thought of his leave being canceled already my tears flowing....

I don't think so.  He told me to cancel.  Originally, he didn't think that he would be home until July.  And then the Thanksgiving leave opened up and he put in for that.

Cathy, I don't understand. Did Josh not get one of the other 2 leaves?

Let me know how you make out Mary.  I submitted the paperwork to the insurance company on Thursday.  Mine was cancellation and they told me up front to send the letter.  Hopefully I hear soon and get full refund.

What date is Jesse coming home now?

Comment by Mary n Jesse on November 12, 2012 at 1:03pm

Hi everyone,

Switched Jesse's flights to first christmas leave, new flights were $93 cheaper than the first set of flights. Contacted insurance company for the difference ($313 charged to change the flights - $92.95 = $220.05 out of pocket). Not sure if that is what I was supposed to claim the 313 or the 220 but whatever). they didn't say anything (yet) about needing a letter from the ship, so we'll see what happens I guess. I really am not a fan of giving this company info about the ship or anything. I guess if it gets too complicated I'll just tell them to forget it. Submitted paperwork to them on Friday (flights - old ones/new ones, and proof of the payments, and their form).
