Welcome CeCe. I sure hope your house rents soon so you can get out to SD too. CJM-I can see you making that 8 hour drive south..would sure be easier than a 2 day trip for me. Beth-Jake won't know what to do with everyone waiting on him on that cruise. I bet they'll enjoy it! Erin-I'm jealous! I didn't realize how much we missed Dennis till he came back for leave. You get your brother on weekends....wow!

Talk to Michael yesterday, he is glad to be back on land.
Well I'm at work so I'll check in later...

I'm just trying to get through this long week--leaving on Friday morning early to San Diego. If all goes well, driving back with Avalon on Wednesday or Thursday next week. She's going to give me a tour of the ship so I'll be taking lots of photos. I'll try to get as many sailors in them as I can and post them up.

It seems like forever that I have been here. I heard from Todd the day before they were going to be leaving. He called me to see the best way to fix ribs. He was cooking about 30 lbs of ribs, mashed potatoes, and mac/chesse for some of the guys on the ship. I haven't heard how it turned out. My son that is in the army is home for a two week leave. He took it now instead of Christmas as he had to get things in order as he is going thru a divorce. He found out that his wife was seeing someone else after he was overseas in Iraq. It is never a dull moment around here! Well time to get back to housecleaning. Hope all of you and your sailors are doing well. I am going to make a conscious effort to be here more often!

Hey all! Sorry for not being around. Things have been so crazy since the ship came back. Just when I think we have settled back down from the crazy summer, and are trying to get back into routine with school and such, life gets crazier. Teenage girls in high school are no fun at all. There is always some kind of drama, worries about homecoming dates and dresses..and shoes...oh the perfect shoes. Seems like it should be a simple thing, but no......it's a daily stresser and cause for major panic for my 15 year old. How in the world will I survive the next four years of high school?????? YIKES!!!

Jake is doing well. Was a little disappointed that the underway was longer than expected, but is glad to be back on land now. He is debating on coming home for Christmas or going on a cruise with a bunch of his buddies. I guess they have an opportunity to get cruise tickets for a steal of a price. I will miss him if he doesn't come home, but I also want him to have fun. A cruise sounds like fun for them. Being out on a ship and not having to work would be so neat for them.

I hope everyone is doing well. I will do my best to get back in here as much as I can...hopefully life will slow down for me soon!

Did anyone hear from their Sailor today?
Sandra(Michael's Mom) Comment by Sandra(Michael's Mom) on September 27, 2009 at 10:16pm
Got an one liner today from Michael.
I was looking up flights for Thanksgiving and they are 3 time the normal price.
Well not sure if I'm going yet, waiting to see if Michael is working. Plus he is starting C school in October. so I don't know how busy he will be.

Good luck renting your house CeCe.
I also miss my daily chats with all my Navy mom friends. I hope everyone is doing well.

Yes we were all burning up the keys boards during deployment days, what great memories. Tara detachment is not out with them this time.
Linda it is an 8 hr drive, or an 1.5 hours if I fly. Her and I are still in limbo land.
Sandra Thanksgiving time would be a great time to go.
Hears hoping that you can rent your house out soon CeCe.
Hope everyone else is good.
