Linda...had you in the wrong state....thought Arizona...guess I get points for it starting with the same letter. Not sure what the guys are doing for Thanksgiving....I forgot to ask Steven last night but my husband might have...I'll have to check with him. Maybe they will spend it with the nice couple that they met at Octorberfest....I think my neice is going home but if not, maybe they can do something with her.

Isn't it great when that sun returns. I love this time of year. It's so nice outside! Good to hear from you Jeanne and that Ben is coming home for Christmas. So sorry to hear about Devin. My brother has dealt with PTSD since his time in Viet Nam. It's so hard on a family. Beachmomma, Dennis is coming home on the 18th of December and goes back on Jan 4. They don't have classes and he's taking advantage of it. He'll be home here in Arkansas for a week and then we're all going to visit the Grandparents & cousins in Ohio. He hasn't been home there in a couple years. I know they can't wait to see him. It's so hard when they have so little time to catch all the extended family when they also want to catch up on their friends as well.
I wonder what the guys will be planning for Thanksgiving. Do you think they'll try to cook their own turkey? Nah...I hope they don't just hit Jack in the Box and Jamba Juice!

Oh Happy Day-the sun came out today. Spent the first half of the day cleaning up my parent's yard from all the flooding. Starting to feel all the bending, squatting, lifting and raking. Advil here I come.
Hope everyone had a great weekend

Hi Boxer Sailor Moms!

What a nice feeling to check back in after all these months and see familiar faces (names) and catch some quick updates. I'm glad to know things are going well for a lot of you and getting ready to have your sailors home for the holidays. Ben has leave 12/29 thru 1/11 so we're all meeting up in Seattle (which is where we're from) during that time for a late Christmas and like you all, very excited. Our daughter who left the Navy in July moved from MD to Seattle and just arrived yesterday. Her and my grandson. If any of you recall Devin (dad) we feel is a casulty of war, ie, post tramatic stress syndrom. And is no longer in their lives....very sad. Breaks my heart apart each time I think of it.

Ben is doing well and contemplating whether or not to re-enlist. Next January will be year 4. I think he wants to deploy again but being with the LCAC's it's doubtful he'll be assigned to Boxer. But, being on this site again is heartwarming.....and I'll be back again.

Stay safe and warm from sunny Hawaii!! (sorry, couldn't resist that after comments about a "Nor'easter" ;)

Linda, is Dennis able to make it home for at least one of the holidays?

Happy to hear that some of you will get your sailors home for Thanksgiving! What fun! It makes all that cooking so worthwhile. Enjoy! Glad to hear that you had Jake home for a quick visit Beth.

Hi Everyone!

I haven't been on here for so long. Life has been so busy for me the last few months. I wish I could see an end to all this insanity, but as of right now, I see no end in sight. Mostly thanks to the wonderful economy!

Jake came home last Friday morning. I got up at 5:30 AM, opened the blinds, and there he was, walking up the front walk. What a wonderful surprise. He had drove all through the night. That always makes me worry when he does that alone. That is such a long drive. 18 hours. And he had been up since 5 AM Thursday. He came home to drop off his car and get his new truck. California has incredibly strict rules when it comes to any modifications or aftermarket things done on cars. Even though Jake has Oregon plates, they still gave him a "fix-it" ticket. I guess he has to prove that all the modifications were done to his car when he bought it. Which we can't prove. So, to keep from getting pulled over all the time, or having to spend thousands of dollars to change his car, he brought it home and got his truck to keep down there the next three years. It all sounds so stupid to me. All the modifications done to his car are legal here in Oregon.

Jake went back to San Diego on Sunday morning, it was a really fast trip. But, it was soooo nice to have him home for a few days.

I am still very busy with all that I am needing to do with the Parole Board. We have yet another new hearing date in January. I'm getting pretty sick of this and wish there was a way we could make it so we don't have to go through this every 18 months. Of course, my opinion is that he murdered someone, he should stay in prison for LIFE, not the "life" of 20 years. Which he got two of and in February will have served half of that. I don't understand how they can equate life to 20 years. Life should be LIFE, until he dies. So dang frustrating.

I hope everyone is happy and well. Keeping warm now that fall and winter have come.
