My son is home (finished his Grotten training) until September 21 then to Guam. Enjoying his visit. He will be on the USS Buffalo.

Gisele, congratulations to your son, Steven......that's great!!! I heard from Alex last night and they are back in Guam. Does the worrying EVER stop??? This trip from Hawaii to Guam was his first real experience. He said he did ok.....very sea-sick when they surfaced....apparently its monsoon season and the water was rough!!! Its just so hard to get used to this. And thinking of him on a sub.....under the sea......its very hard to sleep!!!

Yes, this will be Alex's first time in the sub with it actually going somewhere! I'm anxious to hear about it when they get back.

Hey all! Spoke to my son Steven, and they will be underway for a few days, back in port for a few days and then underway again and back to Guam? Was kinda vague about it and when....but wanted me to know if I called he would be gone...that is what is happening thus far...

Like you, we still aren't hearing much from Michael. I do know they are out of dry dock. The last I heard they were still in port and no idea where once they're finished. Glad Alex seems to be liking it and doing well. They are all putting in some very long hours. Once they get out to sea things will settle into somewhat of a routine.

How's everyone doing? We don't hear much from Alex, but when we do, he tells us how hard everyone is working on the boat.....and the long hours. He sounds like he's really liking it though. I think he's glad to be out of school and actually doing what he's been learning all these months.

Got word this morning - the boat is out of dry dock and the next three weeks will be busy with testing all the equipment to make sure everything on the boat is as it should be. Michael says at least the days are starting and ending within the 24-hour mark. Just thought I'd post in case others haven't heard. This seems to have been a difficult dry dock - at least different from the last one he was involved with.
