Hi Sharon, My son is also on the Buffalo as a mechanics mate. He arrived in Guam in September, so we don't know when his visit home will be. Sure is tough. My daughter and I went to Williamsburg for Thanksgiving just to make it different.
Welcome to the group. June

Hi Sharon........yes we had a good Thanksgiving! Missed our son, but that goes without saying huh? My son, Alex, is a torpedoman/machinists mate on the Buffalo. As for Christmas??? Don't think he'll be coming home either.......at least I haven't heard anything. Welcome to our room!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Were there any sailors able to make it home? Maybe for Christmas? Mine recently arrived, so, there is no hope for that for our family.
I was wondering if there are any Nuke moms in this group? I would love to talk to someone whose son is on the Buffalo as a Nuke.
Let's chat more regularly! Take care...

Help for some info! My son doesn't know what his Navy email address is. Does anyone know how he or I can find out what it is, don't want him to deploy without knowing, because we think that is the only email they can use on the sub.
Thank you

Welcome Sharon.....My son arrived in Guam near the end of September, so they are both pretty new. he is in the barracks also, so I don't know anything about town and am still finding out info myself.

Well, my son informed me that he has been transferred to the USS Houston, also in Guam, now that he has made Chief...I guess they need the help...I will miss this column but I will keep in touch with you guys...the USS Buffalo is A GREAT BOAT and will be missed by my son, so he says...LOL...I told him to look forward to the challenge of whipping the Houston into shape...and Sharon, don't worry about the typhoons, have not had a problem yet...tell your son to contact CPO Dorsey on the Houston or ask anyone on the Buffalo how to contact Steven, my son lives in town in a beautiful home with 3 other sailors and he loves it...so it is very feasible...

Hi everybody! I am new to the group. My son arrived in Guam last week. I look forward to getting to know you all! We have been worried about the typhoon. Is that just because we are newbies and you are yawning as you read this? lol! I was hoping to get input on housing for the sailors. My son is in the barracks and wants to live in town. Could anyone shed any light on how feasible this is? His truck is being shipped, so transportation is not an issue. Thanks so much! I am so happy to be here!

I hear from Alex every other day or so. He doesn't say much, except that they are working hard. Maybe they are getting ready to go out again? I don't know. But they are all ok, haven't heard otherwise.
