Jake just called too. I am off from work today so I was able to talk to him! Sounded VERY excited! A good underway once again and lots of activity obviously. He did say he was tired and that he was going to call back later after he did laundry and caught a nap! This kid has napped for 23 years!!!! LOVES his sleep for sure!!!! Welcome back to all of our CV sailors after their successful journey! Love them too, Molly!!!!

Woo-Hooo I cant wait to get my call ------ a few hours from now as Colton must hook ship up to shore power before he is done. Thats the bummer about his rate -- when deployed he is cake walk city, but when they get home or port he goes into overdrive while others leave :( I will hear from his maybe 4 his time.
Glad they are home ~~~ LOVE THAT SHIP and her CREW !!

Yeah!!! Just received a phone call from Kyle. Sounded good but tired! He was heading home for just a little bit of rest and back to work tomorrow. Really glad to hear from him. Rhonda, after I saw your comment I set my phone out waiting for the call....it worked!

Good morning---THEY'RE BACK!!! Just wanted to let you ladies know that...it's 7:30 a.m. here...8:30 in Norfolk and Chris called about 15 minutes ago. Said they weren't completely in port yet..but he was getting a cell signal so he called. Wasn't expecting them so early...split second difference in what I was doing and I would have miss that call..UGGGH. Anyway...be expecting a call at some point...have a great day!

Rhonda I know my Mike knew about discount to Bush Gardens as well as my daughter knew this as she is in the National Guard- they can go on a website the ombudsman gave us a couple weeks ago -just do a search engine for discount for military-there is a lot of discounts out there- one place my daughter shops that gives her a discount is Aerpostle

I too felt that the comings and goings of a ship are suppose to be OPSEC, but as you can see the Navy either does not think so --or does not have a handle on the information being passed. I have to wonder sometimes what exactly is OPSEC is it the things we dont know about ?? If you watch the Navy news they have pictures of sailors ALL the time ---with their name /rate either ship they are on or country and what they are doing (ie: Operation enduring freedom or Aide in Somalia) I have to laugh Rhonda --I have felt the EXACT same way ---we dont discuss unless the Navy does ??? I once saw a mom get attacked for saying something about the up coming homecoming and all I did was come in and drop 3 links 2 from the navy and 1 nightly news link. And I said " hey stop it --she is just saying whats already known publically"
What I meant by we dont know OPSEC ---is the *real* things we dont know about -- for instance remember the stelth bomber was super secret, by the time we found out about her ---she had been years old.
In Adopt A Sailor at least once every other month I would have a mom come in and question the OPSEC factor with posting address's.

Marianne--yes I agree with that. It does take some getting used to. When we had the bootcamp group we talked about every little thing..I mean I actually think that particular group was for info as well as support...none of us knew what the heck was going on..LOL Then we moved to the school group...a little of both I guess...once they get out to fleet the OPSEC comes into play big time and it does take some getting used. It's hard sometimes not to mention things by accident, in just normal conversation. I guess the best policy is just to "zip it"...or tick-a-lock as my hubby would say...LOL

Rhonda, I am totally confused too. As Molly says the towns that these ships are docked in have the info about them coming and going all the time so, officially it does become common knowlege. I just don't discuss dates AT ALL on here unless it is after the fact! Safest way to go really. People do get VERY upset when certain info is said on here so I don't really even bother with it anymore. Most of the info I talk about is VERY general in nature and honestly the point of this website is really for support of all our sailors and support for one another while we do support them! I enjoy just chatting with all of you for the pleasure of having company with people around me who know exactly what I am feeling every single day! We are all on the "same boat"!!! Oh and by the way the dog with the dixie in your picture is too stinkin' cute!!!!
