My son will be arriving in HI on 11/28, reporting on 11/30 so he will be joining your sons very soon.. :)

Yes, having our son with us is definitely a silver lining :-)

Tomorrow I will send you an a pm with some info including our email/phone # so we can talk. It's a great ship with a great staff --- that's my opinion and our son seems to agree with me so that's a good thing!

Hi Mary, I just left a message for you on the HI site.
Again I am so sorry about the loss of your father, but I am glad your sons command let him come home.
My son does not know what to expect at all, any information would be welcome. He will be home this Friday and will fly to Pearl on 11/30

Enjoy every minute with your son, I am a firm believer that every cloud has a silver lining and seeing your son is that silver lining.

Hi all. Kathleen, it is really nice to have another mom in the house/group. FC is fire control...nope they are not the fireman but they manage the weapons systems on the ship. Our son works with the Aegis Radar System.

Our son is actually home with us now as my father passed away last week and the ship allowed him to take leave. So I get to smile at him for a few more days - he is flying back to Pearl on Sunday. If you have any questions while he is here let me know.

Mary, he recently went undes. he was at A school for AT but hated it. He went undes. so he can work toward MA.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and once he reports will contact the Obudsman.
I am curious, so far I know all the Aviation rates but completely ignorant of others so what is FC?

Hi Kathleen, Just wanted to stop in and welcome you to the group. Our son reported to the ship at the end of August. I love the CO and the ombudsman, they are good about sharing information - especially when the ship is deployed. What rate is your son? Ours is an FC. I am out of town as my father is sick and I'm his primary caregiving so getting to the internet is not easy but I will catch up with you when I get back to Atlanta.

Thanks for the welcome Ann, I have already googled it, funny thing is it was built in MS and thats where we live.
He is really excited and can't wait to get over there and start his Navy life in reality.
