Celeste, Hi how are you?? Haven't seen you here for a while so I'm glad your back. And thanks for posting about Military Family Appreciation month. I too, am so glad to be part of the Navy family and especially this Ike Family, not to mention proud to be an American.

Anne, I know what you mean. They grow up so fast. And we raise them to do just what they did - leave us!!! But knowing that doesn't make it any easier. So hang in there with us and we will all go through this "D" word together and believe it or not have a few laughs along the way.

Tatiana, Thank you for posting that letter. Wow - what an awesome thing for that LCDR to do. I am glad that he knows that he can't do what he has to do with out a lot of other sailors doing their jobs too. It is truly a team effort.
Can I ask one favor of you please? Please copy it, delete it and then paste it again without the last name of the LCDR. We aren't supposed to mention last names on here. Don't want anyone to miss seeing it, but don't want the Administrator to have to say something or delete it herself. Thanks.

Anne R- I'm sure it happens to all of us. I also saw the memorial and cried all the way. You can't help but fear to be in that position one day. W e all just have to stay strong for our sake and for them too.

Thank you Tatiana. I have been okay but I saw that baby picture and the Fort Hood memorial and it all hit me. I will compose myself again, you just never know when something you see or hear just sets off the emotions.

Anne R- I just listened to President Obama's speech at the Fort Hood memorial. I am so proud of my son and of all the service men and women of this country. Just like you I miss him very much but when I remind myself that he is also a part of this, I feel much better.

I just saw a Baby picture of my son and couldn't help but get emotional. Where has the time gone? He's a grown man serving his country. I am so proud of him. However I have a knot in the pit of stomach thinking about the upcoming deployment. I already miss him and this is a short one (also haven't seen him since July). I'm so glad to have all of you to help me get through this. Our friends and family just don't seem to really understand. My husband & I know it will be hard to say "Goodbye" I'm so glad to have a community here that really understands what I am going through. Thank you!

No chatting today- I go to my PAID work. However, HELP! Just informed last night that my daughter has given up the plan of becoming the next computer game designer wunderkind and is considering looking to a branch of the military in her pursuit of a degree in languages. Starting to do research, touched on the DLI, CTI sites. Anyone have any experience/advice? She is looking into her options, is in no real rush because she wants to finish her 2 years at our community college. I am pleased because I really saw no future in the private sector (she's bright, but no McGee from NCIS), but cautiously so. I am leaving now, but I hope when I check in later, SOMEONE will provide some direction for me.

Just went to the ship's web site and there is a new 5 Star dated today. YAY Donna Jo try again. The menu for today sounds yummy. I have some ribs in the freezer so I think I'll get them out and that's what we are gonna have for dinner too.
