I was hoping to hear from Hans this week after he took his advancement test. I guess from what has been said he won't know for awhile how he did. I know in college he had a feel about how he did on his exams. I wonder if it works the same way for the sailors? My birthday is this week and I was hoping to hear good news from Hans or at least get an email or phone call. I know he has been busy so I'm not surprised he hasn't called. He did mail a package home with books he doesn't have time to read, postcards for his sister, and some candle holders for his aunt's birthday, plus a short note on an old receipt. My birthday gift from Hans came in a package from Australia with some other things. I haven't opened my gift yet even though it's wrapped in a bag. It has instructions from Hans to not open until my birthday. LOL I am being a good girl and will wait until Wednesday.

Others have said it takes several months to hear about their advancement tests - at least that's what's been posted on this or other groups that I am a part of.

As for the barge barracks, the navy news said that the upgrades to the flightdeck, etc., were on an accelerated schedule of 2 months. They are scheduled for a fall deployment.

Hey Christy according to Pake (my son) it's very cramped. His rack is right under a pipe and it's HOT! I am not sure but I think they pull out in January.

Hi everyone!! Does anyone know how much longer the kids will be on the sleeping barge? I hear the ceilings are low and it's a little uncomfortable. When do they leave port again? How long do they have to wait to see how they did on their advancement tests?

Josh had said he was going to be taking his E5 in September...Oh it is September. :) I can't wait to hear how he did. He was very excited about when they would be taking it. I think his Chaplains are very goal oriented, so that helps. Good luck for all the test takers out there!

Katie went to Yokosuka earlier and will be going again on the 28th for Firefighting. Katie asked for a few things, but asked that I send them after she comes back from training.

Hey Ladies, I got a phone call from Pake Saturday. Bless his heart he talked for a 100 minutes he used up his calling card. He is homesick, but is enjoying being on the lagging crew. He will be going Tokyo for a few days of school and he is excited about that.
