Hello Jill, Welcome to our group. Everyone on here is very helpful and we all understand how you feel. What will your son be doing on the Essex? My son Hans is a yeoman (works in the personnel office) but he is currently finishing up his cranking duty in the galley.

Hi everyone,
my son flew out to start duty on Essex on Sunday, he's been in training in P-cola for 1 1/2 yrs and now out to do his job. I miss him something terrible, haven't seen him seen June.......Any pointers to give me info about address to mail things to him etc would be much appreciated!!!

Katie e-mailed yesterday. She has been in Yokosuka for some additional training. Katie didn't mention the weather, just that the package I sent had arrived in time for the items she wanted for this weekend's Navy Ball.

The only info I have read has been on the Japan Mom's site and what I have googled about the typhoon. It sounds like it is heading for the Tokyo area. I believe it isn't as strong as it was previously. I was born and raised in Florida and remembered preparing for the hurricanes as we lived inland in Pinellas but County but not real far from the Gulf of Mexico.

We spoke with Hans on Saturday because he called to wish his father a happy birthday but at that time Japan wasn't threaten with a storm. My prayers are for all our sailors safety.

Welcome to any new moms I may have missed. I have not been on the computer the entire time Kyle was home. He basically took over my computer room and internet access while he was home so I didn't log on once while he was here. He's thinking about coming home at christmas but it is so expensive to fly home. However I told him we sure wouldn't turn him down if he wants to come. I think coming home made him miss being home even more and I think he really hated not being home last year during the holidays. We'll have to wait and see.

Hey Ladies
Haven't been on since Kyle returned to Japan. His leave went fas!!! Been busy helping my sister. On the 24th, Kyle's last night home, my brother-in-law had an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury and has been in the hospital since. He's had two brain surgeries and a part of his skull removed. It was touch and go for a while but he's since woken up and is responding but has a loooong road ahead. This has been an awful year for my sister with her daughter having a cardiac episode last spring and almost coding. Then with my sister's own brain surgery when I took her up to Mayo clinic in July then got back and my mom getting ill and passing away with in a week and now her husband. I can't imagine any more happening to her. She has had a long hard life. I know they say god doesn't give you more than you can handle but my LORD she has certainly had more than her share!!! I pray something good comes out of this because I truly don't think she can take much more. My brother-in-law had an accident back in the 80's and lost his left arm. My sister was so happy just a few months ago they FINALLY finished paying off hospital bills from that and now THIS!!! Pray for them.
