I looked at www.sky-tours.com and another mother gave me http://www.mwr.navy.mil/mwrprgms/itt.html. If you use the latter you can call the airlines directly and get a military discount. I had a hard time finding a return flight after Christmas but praise the Lord I was able to find one.

Kim.. What site are you using? My son only got 13 days. He leaves on a Monday at 1600 and has to be back at 0700 two Mondays later. He will only have 10 days at home. I sent an email to double check and will book tomorrow.

Hans emailed us today and has his confirmation on his dates. He is looking at the website that was recommended to me to find the best flight home. We are all excited about his coming home. He will be home in time for his sister's birthday plus Christmas!

I heard from Jonathan today but it was about booking his flights. Kim, they can but I don't know what they use. Last year Jonathan booked his when he was out. I am paying this year and I can't get a straight answer from him. The best I have found is $1687. I found cheaper through Korea but he said he still doesn't have a passport and he doesn't think he can fly to Korea. Does anyone have information?
Marianne... I have 4 sons and I have always relied on a girls mom to let me know what is going on. No pressure on KT, LOL... but we are waiting for news from her.

What have you heard from your sailors lately? The other day Katie said something exciting happened but she couldn't e-mail me about it. Not sure if that meant she could tell me via phone or letter, or ?? Said they were going to be picking up some Marines soon.

Kim - how are Hans' travel plans coming along?

Can the sailors make their flight arrangements when they are out to sea? Hans was trying to change his leave date by one day so he could leave on a Sunday instead of a Monday. Until he knows his definate leave date he can't purchase his ticket.

My son had an early flight last year. He had to go the night before. He missed the last shuttle so he took the train. The Fukuoka airport is not open overnight. There was a group of them so they camped outside in an inlet. He said they built a fire to keep them warm.

I'm so jealous that any one gets to see their kids for the holidays, this will be the first year without either my son or daughter(away at school) but I will have a new grandson to keep me busy...
